A rant posted on my FB.
I need to vent and hope this post stirs up as much anger, humiliation, hurt and frustration as my partner (Brian Pryde) and myself have had to endure since yesterday. The company name cannot be mentioned for legal reasons however Brian had an "informal" interview with said company. He looked immaculate in his new suit, shirt and tie. His long stylised hair was pulled back into a tight ponytail and his beard was trimmed. Shoes polished? Hell, yeah! It's fair to say he looked rather handsome - and I don't give out compliments easily . My very good friend of 15 years who hadn't met Brian prior to his interview, commented later to me that she thought he was incredibly handsome, smartly dressed and smelled amazing - in fact she asked me to find out what aftershave he was wearing! After the interview, Brian was very confident as he really had done his research on this company. The fact that he was previously employed by them (in two of his roles in his time working for this company, he worked in the reception area so therefore, he WAS the face of this company) but he had worked for this company for several years in various roles which also gave him a great edge. In Brian's words, he gave the interview of his life, quoting Press and TV adverts back to the interviewers who insisted on "brief responses" in a rather curt manner aimed at another candidate. I got a blow by blow account of the interview and was impressed with Brian's responses in what seemed like an uncomfortable interview with another 2 potential candidates at the same time. Anyway, in my opinion and the opinion of the other two candidates, Brian had aced it. He felt he wasn't given the opportunity to mention any of his experiences in working for this company previously as "there was no need" according to one of the interviewers.
Fast forward 24 hours when Brian received a call from the Agency stating the interviewers stated they had an issue with his appearance which was described as "unkempt"!!! Seriously??? When he phoned me in a rather distraught manner, I genuinely thought he was joking but I knew from his tone that he wasn't. I just didn't know how to respond. I think I just saw red initially but this feeling was quickly replaced with shame. Shame that I live in a world where people are judged purely on their appearance. An appearance which, as you will see from the pictures which I will upload when the shock has left me show a rather handsome late 40's guy who is very smartly dressed and well presented.
Please share this post if you think there is something illegal about this? Rejected from a job because he looked unkempt? Is it the beard? Is it the hair? Is there anyone else out there who wants to destroy his confidence? Bring it on! Share it, Like it, Ignore it, do what you want but whilst ignorance like this still exists in this world, It really does make me feel even more detached from it than ever before.

RE: PSN Welcome Back package now available...
I decided to go for Wipeout and thought I`d download that straight away whilst I researched the other games to see which one to plump for. Unfortunately the PSN Store seems to have thought I had completed my purchasing completely and has now removed the banner to download the free games so I only got the one game out of this deal :-(
RE: iPhone users - don`t upgrade to 4.3.3
The apps are in the list to be synched and there is over 3GB spare after trying to upload these apps. The errors messages I`m getting are:-The app "NSF Shift" was not installed on the iPhone "Gavin`s iPhone" because an unknown error occurred (0xE8008001). The app "NOVA" was not installed on the iPhone "Gavin`s iPhone" because its resources have been modified. The app "S. Guardian" was not installed on the iPhone "Gavin`s iPhone" because an unknown error occurred (0xE800004C).
These error messages only started after the update and tbh, I`m sure there will be many other apps which I havent attempted to upload to the phone yet that will have similar issues. I`ve tried googling these error messages and don`t really seem to have a clear or definitive way to resolve the errors. I think I`ll need to see if there`s a "help" or "contact us" function somewhere on their program. I take it noone else has had issues like these? Cheers

RE: Trivial annoyances that work colleagues do
I used to work with a girl who couldn`t say the word toilet. I always cringed when she was talking to a customer who was complaining their toilet wasn`t flushing away correctly and her response was...."So your telling me your tor-lett is blocked". Not good when you work for a large water authority!
RE: Embedding album art
I use Tag&Rename - google that, its a free download and find myself using it a lot ;-)
WANTED Blade Runner US 5 Disc Blu Ray Box Set (not the brief case set as that`d be too dear!)
Looking to buy the above. Must be in MINT condition (preferably sealed but I appreciate that will pump the cost up!) I`ve searched online and everywhere has this over the allocated £18 so it`d be even more expensive to purchase this by the time customs charges are added. Surely someone has a copy gathering dust on their shelves and are willing to part with this for a reasonable amount? Can pay via paypal if preferred. Contact me via PM. Cheers, Gavin

320kbps mp3`s?
I`m looking to start legally buying mp3`s. The problem is everywhere I`m looking ie iTunes, Amazon, Play, etc only seem to provide mp3`s at 256kbps and to be honest, I`m a 320kbps type of guy.
Can anyone recommend a good site that sells HQ mp3`s?
Cheers
RE: Wanted: WANTED Toy Story 1&2 and Wall-E Blu Ray Slip-cases
Your quite right Chris I am talking about the card slipcases not the sleeves. I only posted this request on here and Amazon.co.uk though (just hedging my bets).
I`ve just seen someone selling these slipcases on ebay for about £5 so I think I`ll just snap up a couple of those from there but thanks for the responses anyway guys.
Wanted: WANTED Toy Story 1&2 and Wall-E Blu Ray Slip-cases
Hi There
Does anyone have those slip-cases for the above named Blu Rays which they do not require - must be in MINT condition? I`m missing covers for these 3 discs and I`d happily buy them off of you.
I know I`m probably quite sad but not having the slip-cases on these sets makes me feel like they`re missing something and play.com (where I bought these titles from) said they cannot guarantee ever sending these covers when you order.
Please email me at llubnrutig[at]moc.loa

RE: I`ve been given the wrong TV!!!!
Thanks for the advise Mr Oates. I think I`ll be paying a lil visit to Asda tonight
I`ve been given the wrong TV!!!!
I`ve been looking at buying a new TV for a few weeks now and whilst shopping in Adsa at the Glasgow Forge, I spotted what I thought was the perfect TV for me for my price range i.e. as low as possible. The TV on display was a Sanyo 37" TV with full HD (1080) and a USB slot. A bargain at only £397. When she rang it up at the till, the price came up as £500 - obviously I showed her the price on the shelf and she gave it to me for £397 so I was happy.
The lady at the till told me I was getting the last one in the shop so by now, I was really chuffed at my purchase however when I got home, I was reading the manual and realised the TV I was given was a different model.
The model she gave me was a Sanyo 37" CE37LD81-B which (from what I can gather from conflicting reviews on the net) is not full HD 1080 (although I think this is debateable?) nor does it contain a USB slot (would I use this anyway?)
Specs from one site
CE37LD81-B
37R21; HD ready LCD television with Digital Tuner
16:9 LCD with built in Digital Tuner
WXGA Resolution (1366 x 768)
Brightness (500cd/m2)
Contrast Ratio – 800:1
Viewing Angle – H:178 V: 178
Response Time – 9ms
2 HDMI Input
2 Scart sockets
YPbPr Component IN
PC Input (DSUB15-VGA)
Availability – June
Specs from another site
Price at launch £600.00
1080p/24 Output Yes
Auto-tune Yes
CI Slot Yes
Component 1
Digital Text Yes
Flatscreen Yes
Freeview Yes
HD-Compatible Yes
MPN PY41718
Native Resolution (horizontal pixels) 1366
Native Resolution (vertical pixels) 768
PC (VGA) Ports 1
Widescreen Yes
Now the bf thinks we should just keep it because we got a more expensive TV for a cheaper price and admittedly, the picture and sound are just fab BUT my argument is this TV may not have the specs that I was looking for ie the 1080 being the main factor here BUT again, would I notice a difference?
What do you think? Should I complain/take it back or just be happy with my bargain? What would you do? Please bear in mind I want to buy a PS3 in the next few weeks!
All thoughts welcome :D

RE: Job Seekers Allowance - Advice Required
Thanks for the tips you guys.
World War 3 broke out last night and I packed my bags LOL!!! They were unpacked at 1am after I`d calmed down.
Brian has told me he will take any job he can get just now.....and I mean anything! In the meantime, he has made a Docs appointment so fingers crossed that goes well.
I appreciate your responses - its good to know I`m not alone!
Job Seekers Allowance - Advice Required
Any experts in here? I`m looking for some advice if anyone can point me in the right direction.
I have been with my partner, Brian for nearly 12 years (we`re a gay couple). He was in a temp job up until a week before Christmas 2008 and has since been receiving income based job seekers allowance. He just can`t get a job at all through no fault of his own. Call centre work in Glasgow has completely dried up and what jobs do exist require him to be able to speak a foreign language and/or pass a credit check - neither of which are possible! Admittedly, he has never been great at keeping down jobs as he generally temps and has suffered long bouts of stress/depression but at least he does try and will continue to do so.
Anyway, he received a call from the Job Centre today to say he will no longer be entitled to any kind of JSA as I should be supporting him financially!! Now I am aware we are a couple and through the years, it has been my responsibility to pay his mortgage (my name is not on the mortgage), I`ve also been paying his bills, buying him clothes, food, etc as I am in full time permanent employment on just under £19k. Unfortunately we cannot afford to live on my salary alone and we have been getting deeper and deeper in debt through the years. I mean, my one off yearly £800 bonus which I received on Monday was used to pay our £750 mortgage arrears!
The bombshell that he won`t have any income at all has completely knocked me for 6 as I dont see why I should be paying for a property that I dont own. And why should I be paying for old credit card balances which were existing before we even met.
I feel as though I am being punished for being in full time employment - and we honestly do need his JSA even if it is just to occassionally buy food to put on the table or petrol to get me to work - we`re not "spenders" by any means - we just have a lot of collective debt through the years!!
Can anyone point me in the right direction here because we cannot afford to live on just my income alone. Does anyone know what we can do to ensure he has some sort of income no matter how menial.
I really hope someone can point me in the right direction.....otherwise I`m moving out and leaving him to it - I`m sure he`d get some assistance then?
Cheers

RE: Grotesquely overrated artists?
I never got the attraction of Mariah Carey. I know she`s not hugely successful outwith the US but theres something incredibly bland (and strange looking) about her I think!
Just my tuppence worth :D
RE: Rant- Want to know why my bank of 33 years screws me everytime I go 5p over my Limit!!
Mt bf got his unemployment benefit paid into our account 2 days ago. This money (about £120) is meant to see us through until my payday tomorrow. Unfortunately, the kind souls at our bank (HBOS) took 3 lots of "overdrawn" charges on the same day which totalled just over £120 leaving us with not a penny PLUS they kindly gave us another bank charge!!
GRRR
Why cant we go back to the old days of "cash in hand"? LOL!!
RE: Doomsday- Early reviews
Not a very interesting fact folks but part of this movie was filmed directly behind my flat in Dennistoun, Glasgow. There was a huge overhead crane thingie perched just above my roof for a couple of days. The street behind my flat was blocked off for a couple of weeks and decorated with old bushes hanging from the buildings, burnt cars up turned on the roads, etc. :B
Its the closest I`ll get to fame methinks
RE: Unfortunate names
My friend used to be called Jilly Rudge. She married Bob Fish to become Jilly Fish. That totally floored me when I realised!
Multiple Sclerosis - Advice Req`d
Hi All
I recently developed double vision and was sent for an MRI scan. The result of this is I was told there is a possibility I have MS. l will be getting sent for tests soon to get confirmation one way or the other.
Whilst looking about on the internet, a few web sites advised me to take out insurance BEFORE the condition is confirmed. Can anyone advise me what I should be looking for? I`ve never taken out insurance on anything in my life but I don`t want to leave a financial pressure on my partner should the worst happen as I am the biggest earner although I am on a long term temping job.
Also, I assume I should arrange my holiday insurance immediately also? (I`m going to Egypt with my bf - our first holiday in 10 years!)
Can anyone assist me with this or point me in the right direction.
RE: How much do you get per week on the dole ?
Quote:
Start looking for a job now, you won`t get any dole money (job seekers allowance), until you are totally broke, if you have redundancy money, holiday money, or any other benefits from your employer, you have to live on that before they decide to give you JSA, which isn`t a lot.
Not to be argumentative but you do get job seekers allowance regardless of your bank balance. I was made redundant from my job of 13 years and received a £20k redundancy payment. I immediately signed on and received job seekers allowance from day one as I had already worked my notice. They asked for bank statements, etc and had to contact my ex-employer to confirm that I wouldn`t be receiving any further payments, etc but yeah, you get job seekers allowance from day one.
Just make sure you have a shell suit/trackies to wear when you visit your jobcentre or else you`ll stand out :D

Is it possible to buy a car door?
I know I`m going to sound incredibly thick but I would like to know if anyone can advise me about the possibility of buying a new car door.
I have a loverlie shiny blue `99 Corsa Breeze Car which I bought a few years ago (its my first car) and so far, I`ve had no major problems with it. In fact, I`d go as far as to say that it really does run like a dream (or a very fast taboggan as my ellitist colleagues would state)
Unfortunately, there appears to be a thick 2-3" line of rust all the way along the bottom of the driver`s side door which really annoys me and I`d love to get this sorted.
Can anyone advise me?
Cheers

Ugly Betty - Opinions?
I`m up to the 11th episode and this programme and I think it just gets better and better. I am totally in love with our Betty. In fact, I`m going to try and steal the huge bus stop poster across the road from my house tonight ;-)
RE: Ebay Problems - yes, again!
I NEVER open up any ebay emails to be honest cos I just don`t trust them. I spose I should check my paypal account just now though just in case! Thanks for the tip.
RE: Ebay Problems - yes, again!
Ooops sorry, it was Chanel handbags not Gucchi! My mistake (spelling and otherwise hehehe)
Ebay Problems - yes, again!
Some swine has hijacked my ebay account and listed off over 60 auctions for "Genuine (yeah right) Gucchi Handbags". I may be a big cream puff but I certainly have never sold anything other than CD`s or DVD`s let alone bloody handbags!!!!
As a result of this, ebay has removed a couple of bids I had placed for items and suspended my account.
The procedure to get this sorted (which can take 5 days to resolve) involves faxing them - not an easy procedure when you don`t have access to a fax machine!!!!!!
Why oh why can they not be contacted directly???
Oh and the "live service" is also down just now.
It looks like I`m screwed :(
I hope they shoot the bugger who did this - will they? NO (more than likely) GRRRRR
9/11 Loose Change Documentary - Please Read
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7866929448192753501&hl=en
I`ve just watched this amazing documentary firstly streaming online, at the above link then I managed to obtain a stunning DIVX rip from one of the Hubs. I`ve now watched it 3 times in as many days. I WILL be buying multiple copies to give to family & friends.
Please, please, please, I urge EVERYONE to watch this with an open mind.
You may not agree with this documentary 100% but even if 2% of it is true, we live in a scary, scary world.
It lasts for approx 80mins so make sure you have a good internet connection before attempting to watch.
Please post your thoughts. Chilling sums it up for me.

RE: Last Choice
Aisleyne to win - all the way!!!!
I was a staunch Pete supporter for ages but after last nights show, it just confirmed to me that Pete is really quite a cowardly bloke. He had to whisper in the diary room in case Nikki heard him supporting Aisleyne - what is that all about? PLUS he has never gotten involved in any heated debate in that house ever! He just does his "Eastenders Little Mo laugh" whenever pushed for an opinion.
It was pointed out to me several weeks ago that Pete seems to turn his tourettes on and off whenever it suits (ie he goes overboard in the diary room). I`m not saying I 100% agree with this however, I have noticed that sometimes it does feel like its done for the cameras? - surely this could be interpreted as giving folk with tourettes a bad name?
Oh and whats all this "My friend came down from heaven and told me I`d win so if I don`t win, heaven doesn`t exist bollox" all about? Emotional blackmail? I wasn`t fooled!!!!
And why have folk been picking on Aisleyne anyway? She may have came across as a hard face on her audition tape but by God, that girl has been on one helluva journey methinks and has genuinely learned so much about herself in the last few weeks.
Oh and if Aisleyne doesn`t win, I want Glyn to win!

RE: Help finding some tracks please.
I have LOADS of CD singles of this style of music from around that period (late 80`s/early 90`s) which I`d happily help you out with. I`m at work just now but I`ll get a list started tonight for you. If there`s anything you need, just give me a shout
One song you can`t be without though is N`Trance - Set You Free. AMAZING!!!
