Ebay Problems - yes, again!

gavinglasgow (Competent) posted this on Friday, 27th October 2006, 14:20

Some swine has hijacked my ebay account and listed off over 60 auctions for "Genuine (yeah right) Gucchi Handbags". I may be a big cream puff but I certainly have never sold anything other than CD`s or DVD`s let alone bloody handbags!!!!

As a result of this, ebay has removed a couple of bids I had placed for items and suspended my account.

The procedure to get this sorted (which can take 5 days to resolve) involves faxing them - not an easy procedure when you don`t have access to a fax machine!!!!!!

Why oh why can they not be contacted directly???

Oh and the "live service" is also down just now.

It looks like I`m screwed :(

I hope they shoot the bugger who did this - will they? NO (more than likely) GRRRRR

I assume you recently had a phishing email asking you to "click here" to go directly to your account to confirm your details?

Did they also get your PayPal account details? If so, log into it now and change the bloody password - that gives them access to your bank account and credit cards!!!

This is one very good example of why you should use Firefox and the Spoofstick extension, as that would have automatically flashed up that you weren`t on the eBay website when you confirmed your details.

Bad luck mate, I don`t hold out much hope with eBay. They are not interested. But make sure your PayPal account cannot be accessed by those bastards!!!

I NEVER open up any ebay emails to be honest cos I just don`t trust them. I spose I should check my paypal account just now though just in case! Thanks for the tip.

If they didn`t get your password from a phishing email, then a keylogger spyware proggie would be the next thing to worry about. :(

Run every spyware and anti-virus program you have and maybe download a couple more. If they have a keylogger on your PC they know every password etc that you type in!

I use Ad-Aware and Spybot - both free spyware zappers. If you don`t have them, download them both (you`ll find them through Google) and clean your machine up pronto.

The fact that you have been suspended from eBay is the least of your problems. You really need to work out HOW those b*****ds hacked into your account, and make sure they can`t do it again! >:(

Try the ebay community, question and answers board. The people there are very helpful.
