Zulu - bargain at £3.99
Now this was a bargain I thought. Zulu for £3.99 delivered to your door. CD Wow are knocking this out though it is a region 1 cd so will need a multi region player. Spotted it under the top 20 DVD section along with some other potential bargains though none which particuarly caught my eye. I bought it and it arrived within about 3-4 days and plays great - the picture quality seems better than I remember from the Television version though maybe that`s just wishful thinking.
Later all,

I`ts been on offer for about 3 years on cdwow.
RE: Zulu - bargain at £3.99
very decent of you to mention this. Do you think everyone on the net knows this though? Doubt it somehow. So perhaps this information whilst of little use to you may be to someone else.
I Have the very same dvd but I don`t know if it`s just me but I think the picture quality is appalling I have to completley reset all the picture balances. Its like watching apoor vhs copy.I wonder what the £7.99 R2 version that play are selling is any better. If it is Ithink I would replace it.
RE: Zulu - bargain at £3.99
maybe you just have a poor copy because mine really is very good. Don`t have to mess around with it at all and infinately better than watching a VHS version.

fatbob10,
Have to agree with smolds,My copy is not great either. It`s well recognised that it`s a very poor print and there has been several posts about its quality in the last few months, although for £ 4.00 its not the worst DVD you could buy.
But you are absolutely right to post it, as you say there are new members every day ( including yourself ;-)) ) and if its not a legitimate post the moderators will wave the big stick and it will soon disappear.
So welcome to the Reviewer forums and keep posting.

I`d go for the R2 collectors edition myself. In fact, I did. The Picture quality is beautiful, a new high definition master was struck by Paramount/MGM for this and it really does show. The 5.1 remix adds a lot of depth to the film too. Nice bunch of extras aswell in the form of retrospective docs and an audio com. Definitely worth going the extra 3 or 4 quid for it if you like the film. It`s in the proper 2.35:1 ratio aswell rather than the cropped 1.77:1 that the budget US disc I used to have had. By comparison, the PQ on my old US disc wasn`t too good. Better than vhs (just) but there was a fair amount of colour bleed and reds looked more orange, although admittedly this has had a US release by half a dozen different budget companies like Diamond and Direct Source with varying results in quality (all of which were R0 rather than R1).
If you like the film and want a decent keeper disc of it, (rather than a binner disc you`ll eventually upgrade) I`d have to say spend the measley £7 or 8 and get the R2. I`ve compared the 2 and there really is no comparison.
Where did you get a 5.1 remix from? Mine is the Paramount version, but only has a stereo mix.
RE: Zulu - bargain at £3.99
oops, sorry, my bad. I haven`t watched it since getting my 5.1 system. I thought it said 5.1 on the box but I guess it doesn`t. It does have more audio depth than the others that are available though
Reckon I`ll creep off in embarassment now and hope no one sees me.
Never fear, I made a much worse faux pas on another part of the forum. It happens to us all (I hope!).
