Free Orange upgrade
i wanted to upgrade to the motorola V3 so rang orange only for them to tell me they would charge £99 for the phone!
i said no way im not paying that when i can get a new contract with phone for free! so i stood my ground, firmly but politely of course, and the upgrade dept called the customer services deot and straight away they said yes - seen as i said i would cancel my contract and leave orange.
just to let everyone know if you persist theres no need to pay way over the odds with these money grabbing phone companies!
:) :) :)
Yep, I can vouch for this one too. Ive been doing it with Vodafone for at least 5 years. The best line to get them going is "what is your fax number so I can send written confirmation of the termination to my contract?". You`ll be offered your next mobile, as long as its within reason very soon after!
I`m with orange and have done it every time. When you ring orange upgrades, ask to be put straight though to cancelations. They then offer you their lowest price if not free.
I seem to get upgraded for free ... no hassle :D Every year !
Coops
One of the best lines is to ask for your PAT number, as with that not only can you go to another network, you can keep your same number. I upgrade every 12 months, and NEVER pay an upgrade fee. I find out what I can get free anyway, then ask for the next phone up from that!

Not sure if you guys know this but one way I find that is quite easy to upgrade for AND stay on the same network is to port your number over to a Virgin PAYG account for a month or so and then just port back that number to your original network but get a new contract. Now I havent done this myself, but I have known others to do it and it depends on the networks T and Cs whether they allow you to re-join as a new customer after porting your number elsewhere.
i find that if the network i am with won`t accomodate me, i will just move providers.
when i was expecting my son a few years ago, i was sitting in the TMobile shop, telling them i was going nowhere until they sorted out the problem, oh and by the way, i was a week overdue to have my baby!!
Willow : I knew it. I knew it. Well, not in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn`t know
Oooooo spotted a mistake I`m sure you mean PAC number. Gold star for me!!!!!
Cant say ive ever experienced ANYONE EVER saying no to me anyway :D
I work for o2 trying to stop customers going to othe networks, so I can tell you exactly how to get the best deal. First of all, you can upgrade/get a better deal in the 11th month of your contract.
We`re supposed to make 3 offers. i.e £5 off line rental, then £10 off line rental, then £15 off line rental depending on the circumstance. If you spend over £30 per month you can pretty much get anything if you say you`ve seen it somewhere else because we can dealmatch at the moment, and we`re usually too lazy to check if the deal exists.
So all you need to do in month 11 is say, I`d like to cancel my contract because three can give me a free mot V3, 500 xnet mins, and 200 texts for £20 a month. We (pretend to) have a word with a supervisor, then come back and say we can match it.
Sometimes we might hold something back until you threaten to leave again, but the best thing is you can constantly refuse to leave, then it gets noted the best deal you`ve been offered, so then you can always come back and take it anyway, that way you know you`ve ben offered the best deal.
