I could do with something to improve the reception to my downstairs television. The aerial in the loft is on it`s last legs and a signal booster for better reception would be excellent. Will this do the job, and how do I connect it to my TV/aerial?

Thanks,

Brian

Don`t think it was out of stock when I looked, may be wrong tho`. Btw Brian, Eddie Van Halen, a truly excellent guitarist. However NOT the world`s greatest, unfortunately. That honour belongs to Jeff Beck!!!

Its probably more likely to be the co-ax cable than the aerial itself, a booster may help but chances are a fresh cable would be better.

New aerials are not all that expensive money would be better spent replacing both.

Say I were going to buy a new aerial then, is it worth hunting one down online, or am I just as good popping down the high street? In truth, buying online would be easier as I have no free time at the minute. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Brian

If you do buy a new aerial check here first to see what band you need , then see if you can find the type you want here

Forgive ignorance, but I am trying to get Freeview, I have use std Co-Ax but can only get analogue (with a good picture, BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 4, no 5 :( ).

I switch on Freeview box, do a search and get absolutely Bu@@er all :(

I have used a Wickes wide band aerial suitable for low/medium signal areas as I live in GU47, this is supposed to be just about OK to get freeview. Why can I get analogue, but not freeview???, what am I doing wrong? I am aiming aerial same direction as all other houses, I assume at C Palace. on the website referred to above, I should get freeview with a type A horizontal aerial, which is the type I have, (I think). Should I get a "proper" digital cable? Should I raise aerial up approx another metre? It is currently above the roof line on a pole approx, 20 feet in the air. Please can someone help, as this is driving me absolutely MAD >:(

I think the first part of that says it all, analogue is very forgiving, digital isn`t. The booster may help but I am not convinced that it would.

Still for £3.74 it may after all be worth a shot.

Try Wickes or your local TV repair guy (the last one I bought from there cost me less than a tenner & saved me having to compile a order for CPC).
