Yeah, and they`ll probably say, "f*** off then".

A few people brag in forums about how they`ve pwned Sky and everyone thinks they`ll fall at your knees and give you the moon on a stick if you give it to `em on the phone.

I`m not saying not to try and wangle a deal, just don`t take a p***y attitude with them.

I took the ??????? attitude with SKY and it works every time.

I insisted NTL were better, cheaper = half price rental for 6 months.
I insisted I was broke = half price for 3 months.
I said that I only wanted the minimum channels + Cartoon Network for the kids, for under £10 a month or I would leave = top package for £15 a month for 6 months.

You have to push them, but know when you are getting the good offer back.

Good luck.

I moved house and was a exstisitng sky customer and pretened I was a new customer, so they came and fittred it with the 3 months half price rental offer and by the time they found out I already had a sky account they had to Honour the offer......but when i cancelled in my old house they offered me sky + for £49 if i stayed with them.....

Oh dear your clearly not doing it right then ,I have on several occasions had to ring sky and each time they have been very helpful and we have managed to meet a compromise ,from freezing my payments after they put their prices up to having a new digibox installed even tho the first died out of warrenty .
The thing is with sky ,they are only making money out of you as long as you subscribe ,if you cant get sky either because your box died or the dish has moved then it is in their best interest to keep you subscribed !
Maybe judging by your post you have a slight `attitude problem ` ? it never hurts to be polite when you approach companies like this you know .

You`re dead right, Skittles.
Whilst it`s true that Sky don`t get any money by you cancelling the subscription, the guy at the other end of the phone probably doesn`t have shares in Sky and isn`t unduly bothered either way.
I`ve even seen call takers purposefully drop calls to awkward customers on the grounds that when they finally call back and get through again, it won`t be to them.

I get Sky+ tomorrow, I got it for £65.

I rang and asked them to cancel my subscription as I wanted sky+ and did not want to pay over £200 quid (85 + 12 months multi room)

Sky blokey spoke to superviser and I got upgraded... Prob could have got better, but I did not want to push it.

The whole sky blagging is a bit of a myth.

I know for a fact that Sky will not let a customer go. They are happy to make you an offer on something to ensure that they keep hold of you. Skys basic economics state that if you are a customer with a value of, say £30 a month, then they are prepared to spend around £25 to make sure that you stay with them After all, the connection is already there and £5 is £5 to them. Besides, rather them make £5 off you than let NTL make £30 from you.

Basically each agent has a list of offers that they can offer you, depending on how high value you are, and/or how nice you are about things.

The staff are incentivised as well to ensure that they are not literally throwing offers at you in an unprofitable way, but they are also incentivised as well for retention purposes.

It is always worth talking to them to see what they are prepared to offer, there really is no need to go in with a p***y attitude or be rude about things as this is unlikely to get you the better offers.

You will Rue the day..........Go on then.....start rueing!!!!!
