Now that the E2Save/OSPS 12 month free frenzy on Orange has been and gone (and some of you are wondering why they even bothered) Phonebox Direct and Cool New Mobile are now muscling in on the act.

Their latest set of 12 month free deals (on 12 month contracts) seem to be evenly split between the new T-Mobile 12 month Relax tariffs (namely Relax 20, 25, 30 & 35) and O2 200. There are also a select few on Orange and Three. The thing to note here is the fact that TMobile now features prominently in the line up as, until now, there has been a distinct lack of particularly cheap TMobile packages. In particular, there are plenty of high value anytime XNET tariffs available to choose from.

With all the deals listed below, cashback is claimable in 5 equal parts, after months 4, 6, 8 , 10 & 12.

Before I summarise what`s available, I must firstly highlight a number of deals on Orange Off Peak XNet 1000 which have a minimum term cost (after cashback) of MINUS £60. Yes, it seems that they will pay you to take these packages off their hands. HOWEVER, I have to inject a note of realism here...I strongly suspect manual error to be behind the costing for these deals. Anyone wishing to go for any of these cheaper than free deals should do so on the basis that they are probably intended to be zero cost overall and no cheaper and consider themselves extremely lucky if the retailer actually chooses to honour the stated cashback when the error is finally noticed.

BTW...Don`t believe Phonebox Direct about the Talk & Text 900 packages - they may have £420 cashback but that DOESN`T equate to 12 months free. They seem to have assumed that the Three offer of 3 months 1/2 price on the bill applies to this tariff when it doesn`t (it`s only valid on the VIDEO Talk & Text tariffs).

Thanks for the update - do you think its worth holding out till the end of the month for better deals as its the end of the financial year and I am hoping they will be desparate to sign up customers and meet targets?

It`s impossible to say.

My gut instinct tells me that sales targets (where they exist) are probably assessed on a Monthly, rather than annual, basis anyway.

E2Save & OSPS had a huge blitz at the end of February/beginning of March and I would be surprised if they need to chase sales targets on Orange for that reason.

From a consumer perspective, the bottom line is that technology prices are always on a downward curve - if you wait 6 months you will always get it cheaper or, failing that, get something newer and better for the same price. I think the sensible way of looking at it is to set a price you want (that you realistically believe is achieveable within, say, the next 6-12 months) and purchasing when the item you are after reaches that price.

Has anybody bought mobiles from these companies?

R they good at payin cash back as promised?

I tried signin up 4 the e2save deals last month but they told me the orange 1000 x net off peek tariff had been with drawn so cancelled my order.

I am also still waitin 4 cashback from osps. They hav been tellin me 4 the last 4 months that i ll hav it within the next month!

I have only used cpwh and e2save cash backs and they have both been very good on that front.

I took out another "free" deal with mobileshop.com at the end of last year but have yet to claim the cash back.

I`ve used Dial-a-Phone back when they ha dgreat deals, they gave all my cash back.

I got a Nokia 6630 on 12months free line rental 6 months ago and sent my first coupon off, so the money should be within my account in the next few weeks (I`ll post the result here)
And now I just got a mobile form Cool ne wMobile about a month ago.

All in all t good so far, just remember to claim your cashback within the time frame they give you.

I took out a couple of contracts last year with OSPS. Having used Reestit to get the phones through I will have to say that they have paid up so far, although they do duck and dive with their promises.

I believe that their original adminstrative system left a lot to be desired, they now appear to be on the ball.

OSPS are a bunch of crooks who give you the wrong info so they don`t have to pay out, then they have their customer service dept who give you the "I don`t give a s***" line. I would avoid OSPS at all costs.
