KODAK OFFER/SHAM - PLAN OF ACTION - Thread closed
What is the one thing that a big bluechip company hates ?- BAD PUBLICITY.
I think that en masse we should email newspapers, radio, websites, watchdog etc complaining, to try and shame them into honouring the initial offer that appeared on their official website.
At a hundred pounds a pop they will not be losing much if anything on each order anyhow, and it`s better than the bad name. After all there are questions/doubts about credit card security , and contractual obigations.
I`m sure they would prefer not to have a spokesperson defending theie ethics and security on radio,tv and print.
does anybody agree ?

RE: KODAK OFFER/SHAM - PLAN OF ACTION
Personally, I think we should just wait and see.
If those lucky enough to order one of these deals for £100 do receive it, then well played to Kodak, but lets not go slating the company when we have no idea what will happen yet.
If they don`t sell at that price, you have lost nothing, if they do, you have been very furtunate and scored a true bargain.
I laughed my balls off! if you had taken a look round the site you could see it was a mistake greedy greedy greed...lighten up take a holiday take a camera...well pheraps not
PS KODAK some one recomend a good camera to buy!

Yeah, but if we all thought like that, Bear, half the bargains I`ve had in the past would never have come off.
My best one to date is still getting that HP970cxi printer (still sold for £190) for £65 from buy.com - loads of us got it too plus a free cartridge worth £25 ! and some photopaper) - cracking printer too, and still going strong.
As I said at the start, mate, you gotta be in it win it !
And I echo the sentiments of the second post - if you don`t get it you`ve lost nowt. No point getting one`s knickers into a twist about it.
Move on to the next bargain....Madonna Music DVD single for 96 pence - wow !

Hi, ordered one aswell, how do you know it`s a sham? have they mailed you yet? I haven`t heard a thing from them. I thought i`d be pretty lucky to get it at that price but if they haven`t contacted anyone yet I still might be lucky.

RE: KODAK OFFER/SHAM - PLAN OF ACTION
You guys that thought this camera offer was for real just crack me up with laughter. It was obvious that someone had hacked into the Kodak website and put this crazy camera offer on there. Ask yourself a simple question.....Why was there no link to the webpage apart from the one on this forum ???? Let me guess....... Probably because someone on this forum wanted a laugh, and knowing how gullible and pathetic you all were, you just fell for it like a pack of penguins.
And the funniest thing is all those people that had the cheek to advertise the camera on Ebay when they hadn`t even got the goods !!! I am sure Ebay and all those people that bid on Ebay for a camera that never existed are not going to be very happy when somebody tells them.
One hilarious advert on Ebay stated that he was only selling this camera because his uncle had bought him a better one !! Oh Please, you should be on the stage !!! LOL
And finally I bet you are wondering about how safe your credit card numbers are, having handed them over to a hacked web page.
Sleep Well !!! God Bless...

If there`s no link from the kodak site to the hoax, how did Clayts get the link?
I actually was tempted to get one, but the lack of otical zoom, short battery life and ugly looks put me off. It turns out that I was lucky I didn`t get one, if it was a Fuji 6900Z I would have jumped at it in a second.
RE: KODAK OFFER/SHAM - PLAN OF ACTION
The link originaly seems to have appeared over at carpetbaggers at about 4pm on Friday (by someone who made only one posting). The link then appeared on the dvd forums and so on....
There is no link to the `bargain` other than the direct link that appeared.
Yeah, you got me - I was that disgruntled ex-employee - not ;-)
As Chris says, someone obviously planted it at Carpetbaggers, knowing it would spread like wildfire : straight to the DVD Forums - I included here, as I know a lot of people don`t necessarily visit DVD Forums as well as this place.
I`ve heard that it`s been reported on loads of websites, and some really obscure newsgroups too.
I wonder how many orders they actually got from this piece of high jinks. To be honest, I don`t think it was hacked, just a genuine cock-up : they probably meant to say, SAVE £100, orig price £429 (which would add up when you consider the goodies on offer).
At least they haven`t pulled anyone`s strings and said right from the outset it would not be honoured - unlike some dubious practices employed by retailers over the last year or so... (Tesco`s and X-Files, anyone ?)
