home pics for the tele ?
Is it possible to put jpg files onto a vcd format disc , so i can view my holiday pix on the tv? if so what software do i need ? is it complicated to do?
its all new to me at the mo!
thanx in advance
RE: home pics for the tele ?
Yes I think you can, programs like Nero or Roxio allow you to burn pics to disc, pretty straight forward but a few of the techno bods on here may be able to reccomend some better software for the job.

VCDEasy will allow you to do this, it supports drag and drop so you can just drop a bunch of JPGs on and it will turn them into a VCD. You can set the time between photos and lots more. It`s dead easy.
You can then burn the VCD using VCDEasy or other programs like Nero.
http://www.vcdhelp.com/ is the place to go!
I have a small digital video camera and I have burnt all the .avi & .jpg files to a cd. I have checked the cd and the files are all there and I am able to view them via my pc. But when I put the disc into my dvd player it says invalid entry - no disc so I can`t watch the films etc.
My player is capable of playing vcd`s but I can`t get it to work. Am I doing something wrong?
I am using Adaptec to burn my cd`s.

thanx folks!
Had a look at nero , and got to work staight away with the VCD section (which i didnt realize was on ) And as said, was near enough straight forward, " massive ear to ear" when the pics came on the TV.
many thanx to all WOW
Ascom - you need to change the .jpgs/.avis into VCD format first - see http://www.vcdhelp.com
Of course, if you have an old Sampo Taiwan player (eg Encore DV450, Afreey LD2060, Wharfedale M5) you can just alter the firmware on your player to that of the US Sampo DVE631CF and put .jpgs on a CD-R...and .mpgs (ie no need for VCD conversion) and look at them off the bat. Oh, and attach a hard drive too if you fancy it ;-)
I use a program called Ulead DVD Pictureshow. You can create a CD slideshow to play on TV with background music and menu screens. It works pretty good, sort of like a modern version of the slide projector and screen our parents had. This was the main reason I bought a DVD player in the first place to play them on.
You don`t have to have particularly high res photos either, or mess about sizing them, it does all that for you as its encoding it all. All you do is add the photos you want to each slideshow, and you can have multiple slideshows per disk. You get a menu screen with pics and music that allows you to use your remote to select which slideshow you want to view.

If you check out their forum, some people do have trouble running it, but problems seem to vary widely depending on people`s systems. I`ve never had a problem with it.
