Where can i buy a new LOTR Felowship collectors boxset?

Wedge G (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 24th January 2004, 20:06

Pretty much as the heading says. One of my Dads mates has just popped round and saw my Fellowship and Two Towers collectors sets and loved them. I told him that the Two Towers set is easy enough to find (is it still £25 at Game?), but that the Fellowship would be ahrder to come by.

Tried a few places but the set is either not listed at all, or permanently out of stock. Does anyone know where I can get hold of one of these brand new?

Have seen the bookend version of LOTR in WHS for under £30. Game upped their prices but I did secure Two Towers and Gollum (plus bonus disc) for £25. Some Game stores I have seen still have old prices (i.e. the ones before they decided it was far too cheap - e.g. Hulk Box Boxset for £14.99).
You may want to ask at various WHS as they don`t often have the boxsets on display but you still see quite a few bookend sets around so need to use eBay.

Morrisons doing the boxset with the bookends for £16.99? Are you sure? Thats a steal! If thats right I`ll have to get my mate to pop into the norwich one for me (no Morrisons near me I`m afraid)

Lol, I think Jon boy thought you meant just the EE`s because you dont actually mention Argonath Bookends or Gollum.

As far as i know the Bookends is is now OOP but a mate of mine has 5 sealed ones on his loft. I can ask if he`d sell one of them but you`d probably be looking at £50+ as he`s saving them for ebay.

Do a search on www.ebay.co.uk "lord of the rings dvd" & you will find some there, around £15 + p&p,
Or at http://www.pricestorm.com/groupMoreInfo.asp?code=71162&tabGroup=GROUP-FLM

£25.99.

Just to clarify:

The two disc editions are just as
The four disc editions are known as the "extended edition"
The four disc plus figures are known as the "collectors edition"

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I had thought about ebay but was wondering if there were e-tailers still stocking it. Tried pricestorm but thats just for the extended. used dvdpricecheck.co.uk too, but not much joy there either.

I shall keep an eye out in Smiths, but as I say, its for a mate - I`ve already got the sets so I`ll let him do all of the chasing round!

Ive seen a few here and there...Woolies is prolly a good bet, as they seem to have a few things `round the back` (I got my TT collecters box from there on the day of release..although they had none on display, I asked if they were stocking it and they had a few in the storeroom..the girl on the counter asked me `is it the one with the funny looking toy?` LOL I just chuckled and said yeah...) you never know, it might be worth asking if they have any bookend boxes there as Ive seen them from time to time instore behind the counter. HMV will prolly have some if you dont mind paying well over the odds for it and WHSmiths might just have one in the back as Ive seen them here also from time to time ..odd realy cos at the time of release they sold out all over VERY quickly and I didnt see any more about untill TTT came out and suddenly more were for sale..annoying realy... :/ Morrisons up here had the gollum boxset instore for about £30 but they didnt last long and Ive not seen any more since..but again you might just be lucky if you ask....

Online you might get one, its just finding somewhere with them in stock.... :/

e-bay might be the expensive option :o
