Has anyone got a "Superbit" dvd and are they worth buying instead of the "ordinary" dvd`s?

Quite simply, nope. IMHO.

I would say it depends on what you`re into.
If you`re like me and you`re not interested in the extras on DVD`s (let`s be honest the most you`ll ever watch them is once) and you have a decent home entertainment system then Superbit editions are worth going for.
I do notice the superior picture and sound quality but that`s probably as I watch my DVD`s on a plasma with Mission surrounds ..
I suppose if you`re likely to be watching your films on a portable tv then there`s no point going for Superbits !!

I think the ordinary versions are better than the Superbit ones.

interestingly, i think avforums did a comparison between superbit and regular `leon` and said the the regular was way better.

i have both gattacas - don`t think there is much in it. and personally, the extras for this film are good especially the alternate ending with `famous people who had problems` bit.

just my opinion tho. i had both fifth elements - got rid of the superbit cos it wasnt any better and the dts again was not noticably better either. but then again, fifth element was one of the best produced dvds out there prior to the matrix.

the only superbit that makes any difference is "lawrence Of Arabia". Why? Because they did a whole new transfer for it as well.

true.

They did?! It is for this very film I went off Superbit. The transfer is far worse than the "original" two disc version. IMHO.

Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the water (or is it go into the water?) they are now releasing Superbit Deluxe DVD versions! These are the two discs versions, with all the extras.
next it will be the Super-duper Superbit Deluxe DVD versions.
I give up and will stick with the "straight" version.

The Deluxe versions have been around almost as long as the normal SuperBit ones. Hollow Man and The Patriot were the first a few years ago.

I have a few SuperBits myself (not Deluxe) and can`t really tell the difference because I just have a 28" Widescreen and no surround sound. I only usually get these if the regular version is crap or it`s the only one available (Panic Room, Dracula).
