Just seen Spider-Man 2... (possible spoilers!)
And I`m amazed. Simply stunning. Ok, a few minor flaws, but I loved this film so much. And the cinematography is hugely improved, thank you Bill Pope for bringing us true widescreen to the superhero that needed it most. Bruce Campbell rocks. Stan Lee saves kids... we get it ;) . Evil Dead references galore. Sam Raimi, I thank you, and I thank Sony for hiring him in the first place.
Bed time now...

yep i agree. an astounding movie. i reckon ive just seen film of the year!!! it has everything. good narative, character depth, action, cool cgi...
i wonder who ther next `baddie` will be...? ;)
RE: Just seen Spider-Man 2...
You should stick a spoiler warning in the title, I`m sure one or two will turn up.
I loved it. You`re right that the 2.35:1 ratio far better served the subject, and the CGI this time round was nigh on seamless. I think they got it right this time round. It sure is violent for a PG though, I would have rated it a 12.
I had a great cinema experience too. £4.25, pretty empty cinema, no adverts and straight into the movie :D
I like the way they subverted that 9/11 moment from the first flick, and the opening with the pizzas was just brilliant. :D
Better not say more, though I want to.

oh my god.. where do i start!..
I`m a spider-man geek.. and have been since i was a kid... when my local newspaper ran the comic strip.. add to this helpings of the 60s cartoon that I used to go mad for.. (i could only watch it on Socttish TV as Tyne Tees didn`t show s***!).. then the 1970s Nicholas Hammond incarnation... which we got as 3 cinema movies before the series came to ITV.. plus the thousands of comics I`ve read and collected.. and the .. ahem.. action figures..
so i went into this film with very high expectations... and i was not disappointed...
superb.. fantastic.. brilliant, amazing!... kept true to the original story while bringing it inot the 21st century. there were some great comic book moments.. and one scene in particular was a live action comic book front cover.. not say which in case of spoilers..
and weren`t the titles amazing too.. that had to be Alex Ross artwork..
and don`t you just wish that they`d chosen James Franco as Anakin / Darth.. Lucas has a lot to compete with
I went to see it today as well, and I did like the character depth to the film, but what disappointed me tho, was that all the action scenes that was in the film, I already seen on television.
I did like the train scene, but there was one problem.
SPOILER:
When he takes his mask off, and all the people inside the train can see who he is. Then they carry him, inside the carriage, and everyone has had a good look at him, and I bet all the people in the building that lived near the train tracks would have had camcorders out. Yet we are meant to believe that none of the people on the train will reveal his identity? YEAH RIGHT!!! AS IF!!!
SPOILER:
Harry Osbourne knows his identity, and he hates Spider-man, and now he hates Peter Parker, if he`s filled with that much hate, surely he would be the first on the phone to the media, the police whoever to try and ruin Peter Parkers life.
SPOILER:
Mary Jane knows his identity, we all know women can`t hold their water!!!
SPOILER:
The film doesn't explain properly on why he is losing his powers, or how he's managed to regain them, when he faces Doc Ock in the cafe.
SPOILER:
They also don't explain how dumping the ball of energy into the river, wouldn't a big ball of fire, especially that size, boil the river?
There were some scenes I found jumpy, and maybe to scary for kids, especially the Operating theater scene, which I felt was a bit much for a PG, you didn't see anyone die, or any blood, but the scene could be distressing for a kid of about five.
It was a good film, I thought the first film was a lot better, which had the right amount of character development, drama, and action. The second film felt like the middle scene was just one big drama. SPOILER:
Because he lost his powers, and he has to go back to being normal. Superman II handled that type of scenario a lot better, and much quicker, SPOILER:
and at least we knew how he lost and regained his powers.
My feeling is that they are going to have a double villain in the next film, SPOILER:
Harry Osbourne as the Green Goblin, and of course Venom, so it will be double the trouble. It would be interesting to see if the loss of power story line continues in the sequel.
Besides the massive plot holes, overall a good film, but definitely not amazing.

DVD collection & WANTED list
Ok.. well... plot holes or just depth in character?... the whole story is about having faith in someone and in yourself...
SPOILER 1 ANSWER - SPOILER:
We have to assume that these people need a hero and wont reveal his identity.. plus.. noone had a camera.. how are they going to pick one kid from the thousands that live in new york
SPOILER 2 ANSWER -SPOILER:
Harry is driven by two sides (this is exactly as it was in the comic) , his split personality brought on by stress etc cannot make sense of peter and spider-man being the same.. once he has that goblin mask on.. he`s a whole different person..
SPOILER 3 ANSWER - SPOILER:
Mary Jane loves Peter.. it`s as simple as that..
SPOILER 4 ANSWER - SPOILER:
It does.. it`s his disbelief in himself that is affecting his powers.. it`s all in the mind as the doctor suggests.. not p*** poor red kryptonite or whatever
I do believe Venom will make an appearance next.. but it is this that i might have most trouble with... it`s being suggested that JJ`s son will become venom.. which obviously takes away the whole eddie brock story.. how will they do the alien costume saga without secret wars?
Yep, it was ok… Or another word would be…
F<>KING FANTASTIC!!!!
Loved all the action scenes, and the acting was top notch! Great directing Sammy-boy!
Will Def go see again, and again. And that's saying something, cos I never go see films in the cinema more than once. (Well I do say I will go see it again, but I really mean it this time!)
Bring on the DVD! Plz tell me they have good extras this time.
(WooOOOOOOHOOOOoo, while typing this, just found out doom3 went gold!... what a day! :o)
Cheers
The best review you can give this film is calling it just a movie, rather than a `comic book movie`.
I went to see it with a few `You read comic books? How old are you?` people and they loved it. I think if you lived on mars for the last 40 years and had never heard of Spidey, this movie would still rock your world (mars maybe?).
And floyd-
SPOILER:
IMHO, Harry is rich, powerful and filled with murderous rage. No media equals murderation on the quiet.
And the fact that it doesnt really scientifically explain why his powers are fading i think is sort of the point. As haggis pointed out, healthy body, healthy mind.
What im listening to (if youre interested)
I saw this yesterday and I really liked it. :D
I think someone else on here asked all the questions that I wanted to SPOILER:
such as the part on the train when they all saw his face I too was thinking yea right as if people wouldn`t be taking his photo! LOL
This part made me laugh SPOILER:
when he is Peter Parker and he does that flip over the car and that kid sees him and asks how he did and he said by eating his greens and the kid says that`s what my mum keeps on telling me!
All in all a great film :)
RE: Just seen Spider-Man 2...
I thought the CGI was a little bit ropey in some of the scenes that i have seen.
Fighting Doc Ock on the building and also the on top of tube train looked a little poor.
Definately major improvements on the first film though. Still bit of a way to go to get the CGI as good as that done by ILM. Thats just my opinion mind you. :)
