Page 1 of Downloading VCD`s
DVDs & Films Forum
Hi
I have been told that it is possible to dowload VCD`s, from sites called Warez or something along those lines. Does anyone know if this IS possible and if so where could i find a site??
Thanks in advance
vbinsane
It *maybe* possible..but you have two options..
(i) Know the right people with the right FTP sites... - the chances are if you don`t know the meaning of "WAREZ" is that you don`t know the right people..
(ii) Use the Movie equivilents of Napster and download from there.
Don`t even think about it unless you are on ADSL (or faster)...as movies are 500mb ++
FYI Warez - "Warez (pronounced as though spelled "wares" or possibly by some pronounced like the city of "Juarez") is a term used by software "pirates" to describe software that has been stripped of its copy-protection and made available on the Internet for downloading. People who create warez sites sometimes call them "warez sitez" and use "z" in other pluralizations." - www.whatis.com
Of course, downloading films that aren`t even out yet in the UK is a bit naughty....
That`s not to say they aren`t available, it`s just that DVD Reviewer cannot be seen to be supporting this action, as it is after all in breach of copyrighted material.
Rupert`s very helpful posting is as good as it gets for this kind of information, as far as this site is concerned.
Use a quality search engine, like "Google" and you`ll be amazed what you can find ;-)

Also, you never really know what the quality is going to be like. And having downloaded stuff from warez before...i would ALWAYS use a virus checker!!! Norton or mccafe or pretty good ones and offer updates online too.

if you want a napstar type prog goto EDITED BY MODERATOR I am sure you will find what you are looking for.
plus once you have got your file it will need to be converted to a vcd encoded mpeg file before it will read on a dvd player. The encoding will to about 6 hours to convert a 2 hour film.

Hal please reread
(1) my posting in this thread
(2) the Forum rules about encouraging illegal activity.
For that reason I have edited your posting. People will have to find out this information for themselves - that`s what search engines are for.

Please reread my posting directly above your thread and also at the top of the thread.
DVD Reviewer cannot be seen to be supporting this activity. As I mentioned before, this information is floating around there, you just need to find it.
Please do not use this forum as an exchange for information of this nature, as you are putting Dan and I (moderators) in an impossible position.
Any future postings of this nature giving website addresses or e-mail addresses in this thread will result in the whole thread being deleted which seems a little unnecessary. Please take the hint, people....
If you want to find out something you have to dig around a little bit for it. Just not at our expense, okay ?
Thanks for your co-operation
