Page 1 of What would you get? PS2, X box or Gamecube?

If........
You had over 50 PS1 games and approx 100 different region DVD`s.
I want to get a new console for my kids for xmas.
I would think best bet would be a ps2 with X disc for dvd playback.

Does anyone disagree with this reasoning and why.
Before I part with approx. £170-00.

I`m assuming that you have a PS1 and DVD player already?

I`ve got a PS2 and Xbox, and whilst the PS2 has many more games, the Xbox is far superior technically. Region X is due to come out for the xbox imminently.

If you can wait a bit, I`d recommend hanging on until the next batch of Xbox releases come out over the next six weeks or so and then have a good look at it before you make your choice.

Personally, I`ve only recently bought my xbox and i love it.

Where as ive had mine for ages and use it as a doorstop, apart from occasionally playing Halo. Hopefully some good stuff will come sooner or later. Like my gamecube much more

Depends - I guess you should find out what games your kids like playing then decide!!!

Its all down to the games, the Xbox is technically superior - yes. BUT my mate has one and he is bored of it. He comes around mine to play Pro Evo 2!!!!

Ive got a Cube and 2 PS2`s. Cant be bothered with the Xbox.

I mainly play on the PS2 because of the games - the Cube has been a bit disappointing - but when Resident Evil comes out tomorrow I might say something different!

Well, my brother has an X-Box, and it is good, but I still prefer my PS2. I know the PS2 has a lot of s***e games, but there are quite a lot of good ones. The X-Box just hasn`t got enough games yet to justify a recommendation. Then there is a gamecube, but I never liked Nintendo.

I`ve got a cube and an Xbox, there both quality and if you get either you`ll be happy. I don`t have a PS2 so can`t say much really on that, but I still use my Dreamcast and PC Engine as much as the others.

If I had over 50 ps1 games i would sell them to computer exchange, you can check what you would get for them by going to http://www.cex.co.uk and buy an xbox or a gamecube. I have the xbox and the gamecube, dvd playback on the xbox is really good, much better than the ps2`s. I wouldn`t call the gamecube a kiddies machine but i reckon the kids will much prefer a gamecube, the games are just far more accessible. I wouldn`t get a ps2 (in my opinion), why would you buy a technologically inferior product when the others are cheaper and better anyway.

Best Football Game = PES & PES2 lookie here PS2.
Best Action Romp = GTA3 and Soon GTA4 lookie here PS2.

If it`s really for your kids then the PS2 with DVD Region X is ideal. I`ve got a PS2 and a DVD player but my son has a PS2 and Region X, which means he can do what he wants.

The Gamecube`s a good games machine but no DVD (bah!)

Also if your kids are young then the superior technology of the X-Box probably isn`t as relevent as mine always played the most graphically crap stuff instead of the pretty looking ones. The gameplay is what`s important.

i`ve owned all 3, and my opinion is that the Ps2 is the greatest of them.

The xbox has far superior graphics, but no decent games (halo gets boring really quick).

the gamecube is just turd (sold mine 3 days after purchase)

the ps2 hasn`t got the power of the xbox but many enjoyible games.
