CrimeWatch has just lost the plot

The have just done a piece on "Diana`s" mum and some jewlery she has had stolen. It had sentimental value you see and she is "Diana`s" mum.

I`m sorry but 1000`s of people get burgeled each day and it does not make CrimeWatch. This was not a violent crime, no one was hurt, no one was in. I am not saying that makes it ok but it did not warrent TV air time.

I think CrimeWatch, and the BBC in particular, lost the plot when Jill Dando was killed.

I thought it was awful the way they milked it and made her out to be another "Diana" when in fact she was just a c-list tv personality.

I have always felt sorry for the guy convicted, there was no way he was going to get a fair trial.

The BBC love to remind us of "Diana, Queen of Hearts" and her "legacy" at every available opportunity. I`ll never forget the utter outrage that I felt at their sickeningly sentimental Great Britons "documentary". The woman was a mentally ill, vacuous, serial adulterer, self-obsessed sloane. She died whilst in the company of the heir to a business empire with a reputation for corruption which almost rivals that of the Windsors.

Are we seriously supposed to believe that Mrs Shandy Kid couldn`t afford adequate security for her property? Having said that, if her judgement is anything like her daughter`s, it was probably one of her own staff that did it.

Yeah of course she was but there are plenty of other people who fit that description but don`t get as much airtime on Crimewatch.

Getting shot on your own doorstep isn`t a pleasant way to pop your clogs but it happens over here in Northern Ireland now and then (as do other horrific and indefensible things) and because the victims aren`t famous (like `golden girl` Dando), their deaths/injuries don`t get quite so much attention in the UK media as those of photogenic celebrity types do. Does that mean their lives are worth any less? Of course not.

The point is that the public want to read about high-profile cases and that is why the Dando case was milked for all it was worth. If you need any proof that people have a natural appetite for gossip, just consider the continued existence of the Daily Mail and Daily Express, which target that sort of market.

And as far as Barry George is concerned, if I remember correctly there was also DNA evidence linking him to Dando`s death. Yes, miscarriages of justice do occur (the jury system relies on human judgment, after all) but fans of conspiracy theories should open their eyes to the fact that sometimes it really *is* as simple as a case of an obsessive fan deciding to kill the object of their attentions.

My TV this summer was sadly filed with the worlds media looking for two little girls neither of whome were famous.

A man who was targeted and killed by a hit and run driver featured twice on the proggrame he was not famous.

A old lady that was killed and her heart was cut out featured heavely she was not famous.......it goes on.

Most murders are commited by people that are known or related to them
and are solved without any TV coverage.

And as for Jill Dando it was bound to attract a lot of media coverage but you can`t blame Her for that she was dead.

Northern Irland, well thats over my head anybody who can think of a reason why a Catholic taxi drivers ect or a protastant taking a drink in a pub shopping..ect should murderd because of their religions
is behond me!

First things first...buy a dictionary. There you will find the correct way of spelling words that you intend to use. Then, maybe, you can move on to the next step of attempting to comprehend Northern Ireland`s problems. Baby steps...baby steps!
