Space shuttle Columbia disintegrates on re-entry to Earth

clayts (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 1st February 2003, 14:38

Very disturbing reports coming in that NASA has lost contact with Columbia, which was due to land at 2.16pm our time.

They lost contact at 2pm, and early indications seem to suggest the space shuttle has broken up/disintegrated on re-entry.

Sky News are covering it now if you`re interested.

(Cue hysterical rant from one Fox news reporter that there`s an Israeli fighter pilot on board...etc, etc...)

Scary stuff...

Definetely must have `gone` because it`s been an hour without any news.

At 2.03pm our time it entered the earth`s atmosphere (Dallas residents heard the sonic boom) and some home video footage taken (being looped on Sky News if you can get near a TV) clearly shows a huge part of the tail breaking away, with the rest of the shuttle disintegrating, causing multiple vapour/smoke trails.

It`s clearly a very depressing end to the mission.

Third entry - someone was trying to sell debris, but thankfully eBay pulled the sale.

On Yahoo message board their already blaming the muslims for the tragedy and all the conspiracy theorys are out in force to try and prove that the muslims were responsible

such as this one....

The coincidences are too large to be readilly discredited:

1) Israeli astronaut was well publicized
2) Debris fell over Texas.
3) NASA Space program is the largest `National Symbol` the U.S. has ever had.
4) The world hates us, and they especially hate George W.
5) Great distraction to the concerns in Iraq
6) Indian born astronaut...could be a Pakistani attack. (unlikely)
7) Long shots: American Militia men upset at the federal government or Branch Dividians

sad redneck racist bas***ds

this is my message to them

Just got home from the Falkirk St Johnstone game and heard on the radio about the Shuttle disaster.
Forget all the schite that is or will be spouted by cretins. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families , friends and co-workers of the astronauts that died on board.
Choagy .
