Who here thinks Labour - and Tony - will remain in power for a third term?
Labour couldn`t put a foot wrong at one stage, and even after Iraq things were looking promising for Tony and his cohorts...but in recent weeks, what with this EU Constitutions and his point blank refusal to grant the people (who put him where he is) the right to choose, it seems everything is going downhill for Labour.
Their domestic policies are hardly breathtaking, with the NHS just a laughing stock (compare our main services with other foreign countries) et al, so will 2005 be the year that the Conservatives claw their way back?
After all, they did do well in the Council Elections, and perhaps Duncan-Smith will be willing to do things differently and let the country prosper. Blair has been good at times during his six-year reign, but perhaps now it`s the time for changes...

RE: Who here thinks Labour - and Tony - will remain in power for a third term?
Yea, because we all remember under the Tories how Schools were better, how public transport had more funding and how the NHS was better funded and performed better.
Or maybe I`m thinking of a different government?

Theres no way Blair could fully initiate the single currency here without the people voting on it. The referendum will come.
The NHS may have its problems but to call it a laughing stock is not entirely fair IMO. It does still provide a unique service looking after people who in many other countries would have to pay huge amounts for treatment.
I think that for as long as IDS is the Tory leader, Labour will remain in power as there is no better alternative really.

Unfortunately, the Tories are still a shambles, and are not an effective opposition.
This country at the moment might as well be a one party state. If we had a decent opposition, then Blair would be in deep deep trouble the number of cock-ups his government have made.
For sleeze Labour make the Tories look like the Puritans, but with no decent opposition - what can he do wrong.
RE: Who here thinks Labour - and Tony - will remain in power for a third term?
Only if the plebs vote for him.
RE: Who here thinks Labour - and Tony - will remain in power for a third term?
I will not be voting for him. He is selling us down the river, and he doesn`t even give a s***.
I hated him when he first came in to power, because he abolished student grants when I was at college.
He came across as hip and cool, but in actual fact he`s like every other politician.
A lying hypocrite twat

The Tories might be worth voting for if they appoint Ken Clarke as their leader and allow him to drag the moribund party into the 21st Century. As it stands, however, there isn`t a viable alternative to Tony Lying Lawyer Blair.

Who knows. Maybe.
But you have to remember that oppositions never win elections. Governments lose them.

RE: Who here thinks Labour - and Tony - will remain in power for a third term?
I try not to be political - personally I think alongside religion and sport, politics is pretty much Mankind`s worst invention. The thing is, my memory extends further than the last six years. I agree that Tony and his cronies have seriously let us down. There`s been little difference between this administration and the one that preceded it - but that`s largely been down to the Faustian deals that New Labour had to make to appeal to their voter power-base.
But I remember the last lot - what were they called? I remember them virtually destroying the industrial infrastructure of the country, selling off shares in publically owned utilities, eroding the provision of health care, pensions and education - all in the name of bolstering the economy but which only benefitted themselves and their friends.
Unfortunately, the third choice is so mind-numbingly wishy-washy that it`s hardly surprising the public is embracing more extreme political viewpoints.
Sadly, whoever gets in next time is going to continue making the mistakes that politicians have been making since - well, ever. And you all know where the s**t eventually lands - on us.
