I was reading through the checkout of www.dell.co.uk, when I saw this:
Dell Computer Corporation is a US Corporation and is therefore subject to all US Export Laws and Regulations. In view of this, please answer the following 4 questions for US export compliance purposes.
One of the following questions was:
Will the product(s) be used in connection with weapons of mass destruction, i.e. nuclear applications, missile technology, or chemical or biological weapons purposes?
I was pretty shocked!

Yea if you need a computer to use in connection with weapons of mass destruction, you`re better off with a Compaq.
:/

Is that the most idiotic question ever???
Would anyone actually answer yes to that given that doing so would probably result in a cruise missile landing on your head about 15 minutes after you pressed OK!

I bought something from a website the other day which had the following questions.
Is the card you`re using yours?
1. Yes
2. No
If not, does the owner have your permission to use it?
1. Yes
2. No

It is a pretty idiotic question but if I remember correctly they ask similar silly questions when you vist America on the immigration form that you fill in before entry to the US. Something on the lines have you ever been a terrorist and have you been involved in genocide ?
Er, duh I dont even know how to spell the word ...
On the subject of US Export Laws and Regulations there was a letter in the Guardian yesterday pointing out this type of statement is in all Microsoft product licences and other US computing products including Dell computers and other mainframes that says these laws tightly control what you can do. Aparently you are supposed to get permission from the US govt if you want to move something. The letter said that the UK MOD had to get permission from the US govt when they wanted to move a US made mainframe computer from one site to another site. :o :o
Silly questions like "have you ever committed genocide", "were you a member of the nazi party".
Yeah, real silly. Dachua was soooooo silly. Hilter was very silly.

The Shi*house poet needs a good thrashing, Grafitti ISNT cool.... kiddies!
There was word on North Korea I think it was using chips from Playstation consoles as part of their Submarine guidance systems. Hell even a few years ago Iraq was found to be importing a load of PS2`s suppossedly to use the "advanced microprocessor technology" in their missile systems...can see it now "US finds proof of WoMD! Secret PS2 stash found in hidden bunker!"

Look on the bright side, as it was more than 18 months ago, the chance of any of the PS2s still actually working is pretty slim :)
