DVD player with region 1 NTSC disk converting to PAL for PAL TV
How much of a degradation does this cause ?
I`ve got a Wharfedale DVD (which as we all know can be frigged for region 1), but my TV only plays PAL. The Wharfy can output NTSC to PAL but I was wondering what the qualitys like.
In general, whats the shortfall likely to be and specifically for anyone who owns a wharfy....

My R1 seem to play just as well as my R2 discs, and my T.V isn`t NTSC compatible as far as I`m aware.
I think you have to use a Scart though.

If your TV can handle PAL60 (sometimes called pseudo PAL) then your picture will be fine. However, if your TV can only support regular PAL (a.k.a PAL50) then playback will be very jerky.

Only does normal PAL not PAL60. Define `Very Jerky`.
Will it be unwatchable ? Or will it be a little `off` ?

I found that when i put my player in pal50 then recorded it , it wasnt so jerky

Troll, why is it jerky with PAL50 - I`ve noticed this with my Lecson. Although as you say, I can play region 1s OK with PAL60.
Saying that, I get some flickering diagonal lines at the top of the screen (way outside the actual picture) when using PAL60 on region 1 disks. Is this just my TV, or would it be a decoder thing?
