Page 1 of Oscar Results!!
General Forum
Hi Guys, stayed up all night and just finished watching the Oscars and I really enjoyed it!! I am so chuffed that LOTR`s swiped the board with 11 out of 11 oscars totalling that of Ben Hur and Titanic!! Finally the film (the trilogy as a whole) has been given the recognition it truly deserves - a long time due!!
Am also chuffed that Nemo won best animation but really there was no competition in my eyes. Thought Catherine Zeta Jones looked hot as did Sandra Bullock and most of the other actresses there!!
Thought the movie runs with Billy Crystal was also great as they have taken the idea from the MTV movie awards - Crystal as Gollum was funny!!
So guys what did you lot think of the results?
As a whole I am pleased with most of the results, Into the West is a fantastic song and I was surprised Cold mountain only won one Oscar as I really enjoyed the film much to my surprise!!
Post your views here!!
Cheers, Mike

i have stayed up for the last few, and especially this one to finally see justice done, with lord of the rings.
i think pj summed it up when he said its good to see the academy getting past wizards and hobbits and orcs and basically giving fantasy a go, and he then said its one time the f word is acceptable.
it was an entertaining show, especially ross`s guests inbetween awards, rob brydon was superb, better than the usual hollywood no-bodies they get to comment on the clothes.
i personally liked belleville much better than nemo, which was good but not as good as the triplettes, but nemo was as much a cert as you can get.
but talk about sore looser, bill murray maybe a good actor but he needs to practice his reactions a bit.
The results were VERY predictable. Was Return Of The King THE best film of last year? i don`t think so, but the academy had`nt awarded the first two in the trilogy with much, so hey, lets give them all the awards tonight to make up for the previous films.
Don`t get me wrong, i like the films, and personally i thought the first film was the best of the bunch, but the awards are suppose to be given based on the best films of the last year, not last 3 years!
I think it is fair to say that Best Picture rarely goes to the best film of the past year. Chicago anyone?
Don`t take a lot of interest in these things, but LOTR is by far the best film of the last year and deserved all the accolades
Master and Commander was robbed(nominated for 10 and won two). I thought it was deserving of best director certainly, and probably best film. Still, the whole things just a popularity contest.
On the basis of the first two films LOTR has made a clean sweep of it despite this probably being the worst of the three(for the record, order of Theatrical edition favourites is:1,2,3). I thought TTT:EE was better than FOTR:EE though. I await the four hour version of ROTK(with most of the end sequence excised I hope) so I can compare all of them fairly.
It doesn`t really matter - the more academy awards you`ve won the more you can charge for the DVD.
Just got up after watching the oscar`s all night . Well done to LOTR`s . I thought billy crystal did an excellent job again . It was well worth watching .

I thought they started really well, but as the night went on it tended to get a little boring. I think that was just due to the predictable results; there was very little excitement over who might get it. Billy Crystals opening set was brilliant though, and the Jack Black and Will Ferrell duet was a highlight too. :D
Ronnie Ancona threatened to spoil the whole night, the stupid bint, and it was clear Rob Brydon was getting irritated by her. Even Alistair McGowan had to tell her to be quiet a couple of times. :/
Angelina Jolie though... what a babe. She looked amazing! One final note... did anyone see how upset Bill Murray seemed to be?
So glad to see that LOTR got the recognition it deserved, these awards were truly for the entire trilogy - a series of films that have re-defined modern cinema. The four hour extended version is going to be superb, if the previous two EE`s are anything to go by. I don`t think for a minute that the end sequence will be shortened, if anything it will be extended and quite frankly I don`t see the problem with it anyway, after all the book ending is even longer and an epic trilogy of this length deserved to have the ending it got.
