Ive never felt so sad and upset watching that video clip on tv, its just terrible beyond comprehension! Does anyone think the hostage takers will take pitty on this guys life, the British Government it seems has done a great deal more than the US!

It`s so sad to watch :( :(
I`ve just got a feeling they`ll let him go and hope to God I`m right.
Can`t begin to imagine what his family and friends are going through.

I think they`ll let him live for a little while longer - they are getting a huge amount of publicity over this and probably don`t want it to end.

However, now they have the publicity, I can`t see them letting him go. Britain (quite rightly) won`t negotiate with them so there only appears to be one unfortunate final outcome.

I agree, it`s a hopelessly tragic case. While i hope against hope the bastards that are holding him grow something approaching a soul and release him, I don`t hold out much hope.

As harsh as the Govt`s stance may seem on this issue, putting a human face and voice to the situation doesn`t change the fact that if the hostage takers demands are met, this will encourage many, many more terrorists to kidnap more westerners in return for more and more extreme ransoms.

Whatever happens, the only people that can be blamed for the outcome are the hostage takers themselves.

The publicity they are gaining over this tragedy seems to be confined mostly to Britain.
These monsters have no soul. I fear the worst, unfortunately

All we can hope is that he gets out of this terrifying situation alive, hopefully, the SAS are closing in and the longer it goes on the more chance they may have of locating/rescuing him. Surely there must be some sort of trace from the internet website.

I cannot imagine the situation :( . All I know is that we are unable to give in to the demands, otherwise more and more hostages will be taken. Unfortunately it would seem that this situation is spiralling totally out of control. I remember that a post war stratagy was supposed to be in place:( I cannot believe that today the yanks said that all was well, basically >:( )

As far as Bush is concerned, the war in Iraq was a roaring success, as he personally managed to remove Saddam from power and made Iraq a safer place for all those irakkees. (At least, that what he`s spouting at his election rallies)

er.... If it`s such a dangerous place... why are british people still hanging around there?

I am amazed at the people who just stay put when a war/major terrorism kicks off.

The risk is there, surely these people knew that?

Anyway.. It is still a terrible thing and I hope they get the hostages out.
