Looking for cheap accom. near central london, staying the 15th & 16th July. Does anyone know of any suitable places (B&B`s, hotels, motels) or of any websites that specialise in this area

TIA

If you want dirt cheap hostelly type accomodation, try here www.cheap-hostels-in.com/

My brother stayed in one of them, but I can`t remember which :D He seemed to like it, anyway.

My house! :p

Have you tried the obvious - I assume you have - like Travelodge? Then again, I`m not sure of the prices in Central London. Pretty sure there are some cheap places around there, might be worth checking lastminute.com?

Oh my God, Bear is driving! How can that be?

I guess it depends on what your looking for. Given that it`s the middle of summer, sometimes some of the universities let out rooms in a hall of residence for not much money at all. Otherwise, there`s the Butlins hotel! :p

Lastminute used to be good, I stopped looking at their website a few years back for deals while working away from home.

Theres a few in\opposite Paddington that seem quite reasonable, prices (outside) seem to be about £35\49 for a single\double twin. Thats about 8 mins walk from Marble Arch\Oxford Street\Hyde Park.

I could get some leaflets\names\phone details as I walk past a good few of them usually every Friday afternoon.

I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

I had a junk e-mail from Holiday Inn last week, you can get a room with them in Hammersmith for £59, or central London for around £100 - but these are (allegedly) sale rates and the sale ends today.

All the best.

The Holiday Inn near the Dome is £40 a night for a double room.

It`s about a 5 min walk to the Jubilee Line, and then about 15 / 20 mins into town.

Have a look here - I`ve stayed at some Univ. accomodation in the summer and it was excellent and really central.
