Page 1 of Customs Question
General Forum
I was just wondering, are there any customs duties on books? I wanted to order some from Amazon USA that cost $25 each, and don`t know if I have to order each one seperately or not.
i have ordered big books from amazon and not been charged. dunno if it was just lucky or not. check out www.hmce.gov.uk
If there is duty applicable to books, it will almost certainly be in a different bracket from digital media, so you should check out the address above for limits.

Books are both VAT and duty free so no need to worry.
For standard fiction I`ve not found a great saving once you put on the shipping cost, but for some computer books it worked out to be a lot cheaper.

Thanks, its a book you can`t get over here, and I want one, my friend wants one, etc etc :D Ordering seperately would have made the postage quite hefty, so I`m glad I don`t have to :)
