Payments between Amazon UK & .Com

I`m registered with UK but want to buy off .Com.

Does it work like PayPal and Amazon do all the caculating, take the correct amount of money, convert it, then pay it to seller?

Yup, just log in using your normal e-mail and password. Just get your complete total (inc postage) and run it through a currency converter. At the moment, just half the U$ amount and you`re virtually there

The item is a DVD which is not listed on UK.

I can only order it if I log on to .Com.

I`ve gone all the way to the end of checkout and can`t find a convertor!

Should I just click `place order` or will my bank charge me for the conversion?

Of course, if it was listed on the UK site, I`d only be paying £1.25 P+P.

As it isn`t, I`m paying £4.90.

Then again, the DVD would probaly have a higher listing price so I guess it evens itself out.

Just don`t want any bank charges to bump up the price.

I persoanlly haven`t received any bank charges for a foreign currency purchase.

Incidentally, have you shopped around? You could try cd-wow, they have an extensive catalogue of dvd`s from all regions, and I seem to remember they don`t charge much for postage. (I got the aussie version of BTTF from them)

I use this to convert $ in to £.

Watch out when buying in bulk or box sets over £18 otherwise you`ll be charged by customs, I don`t know if you can write to Amazon and ask them to mark it as gift.

If you pay by credit card they won`t charge you any extra for it Amazon.com will charge your card in US $ and it`ll be converted to GB £ at the standard rate on your card statement. Simple.

Watch out for customs charges though. Anything over £18 will incur a charge + VAT.

Only thing I`ve ever been stung on was a Neil Diamond boxset for my mum, then a week later the bastard was on on .co.uk for less!

So shop around!
