Blimey, never noticed that before!

STUDMANGAV (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 19th July 2001, 02:38

Have you ever sat down and watched one of your favourite films that you have seen absolutely tons of times, only to notice a something new?
I was watching Kingpin again tonight ( still am actually ) And noticed that in the final showdown between `Big Ern` and `Roy Munston`. Big Ern takes a towel from the side to wipe his armpits, then a couple of seconds later Roy takes the same towel and wipes off his face. I know I should of noticed this before but just hadn`t.
Or this thing you may of never noticed before may of been something pointed out by a commentry track. Anybody else??

Back to the Future is the best for that. I`ve seen it literally hundreds of times and I keep on finding new details and things in the background that I hadn`t seen before.

Don`t let them get you down Studmangav!

:o)

Actually I tend to do the same thing with books (I mean find new things in them, not wipe my armpits ...)

Ditto with music. I played a Depeche Mode album recently (the excellent `Construction Time Again`) which I`d originally bought on vinyl for £3.49 18 years ago.

I recently got a CD version of it and listened to it thru my Discman headphones - it was like listening to a brand new album ! There were loads of new noises that weren`t there before. Perhaps there is some truth in the rumour that you learn to appreciate things more as you get older. It may have been the case I was too busy focussing on the lyrics so I could show off at school to notice the music !

Am I on my own here ?

No mate,

Try the same with Tubular Bells and JM Jarre`s Oxygene. About 15 years ago, it blew my socks off!

It`s the same with DVD. Try listening to the soundtracks with headphones and you hear loads of stuff that is almost inaudible with standard speakers. It`s a different experience entirely.

All the time.

I watched "Being John Malkovitch" the other day and noticed that the plank Cusack thinks is lost in Big M`s brain is returned to him when he finally leaves his body.

LOL.

Good topic!

Fight Club is the best example of this I can think of. There are absolutely millions of wee details that hint to or link with the ending. When you watch it for the 2nd or 3rd time it totally blows your socks off with all the little things you notice. It is crammed with detail.

(Of course I wont give an example as that could spoil the film!)

For anyone who owns the Toy Story ultimate toy box region 1,then listening the to the commentary tracks(again,uk is robbed of this) gives away loads of stuff that i wont print here(i do believe it was me that made the boo boo with the fight club review on this site-sorry chaps!).
Borrow a copy and immerse yourself in two of the best commentaries ever commited to disc. But see if you can spot the stuff first...
Also South Park the movie has loads of little in jokes you spot on third or fourth viewing.
This thread could turn into an absolute minefield!!
