Talk Talk ` Free Broadband`

Ian510 (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 7th September 2006, 14:12

Just an update on my experience with Talk Talk and the `Free Broadband` deal. As an existing customer with my phone I upgraded to the Talk 3 International package at a cost of £9.99p per month together with my line rental transfered from BT at £11 per month. I applied in May and was processed quickly for the phone and charges with the promise of broadband by 10th August. For this time i still had to pay for broadband from my current provider. A Migration code was given late May as requested by Talk Talk. 10th August came and went with a further promise of Broadband by end of August. By 5th September still no activity and still no sign of the modem and activation package. Contact via E mail made again with the reply that another MAC code was required and if I forwarded this to them they would process as soon as possible and within a further 10 days give me an indication as to when the broadband would be activated. This on my estimation would put a possible date for broadband activation at the end of September if I was lucky. During the whole of this period however Talk Talk have had the benefit of my upgrade fee since May with no `free broadband` I feel I have been had over and wonder if anyone else has had similar problems. ( like most companies these days the problem can not be sorted via phone due to language difficulties! )

I have a friend here in Biddenden who was already using TalkTalk for her call charges, and bought a new PC back in June, so decided to go with them for the BB. She signed up and they told her it would be September before she got the Modem package through.

Instead, it all turned up unexpectedly at the beginning of the school holiday, back at the end of July, and she was up and running that day with no probs at all. She is over the moon with the whole set up.

No problems, no hassle and an earlier start date than expected.

So not everyone is unhappy with TalkTalk!

Signed up mid August, `go live` date end of Sept. Will see how it all works out and if they are on time.

I get the impression that TalkTalk are starting to get on top of things. Their response to all the criticism has been the usual "we were overwhelmed by the response".

TalkTalk broadband finally up and running as of yesterday... and only A MONTH late :/ Still, at least it works (despite a modem problem which I`m sure they are well aware of but are happy to get the help desk phone-up fees ((£2 plus 10p a min >:( ))

We`ve had other probs with them re: reporting a line fault - took 5 days to get fixed. :/

Overall TalkTalk 3 out of 10

Lets see how they progress...

All their phone numbers are 0871 jobs

...I spose they would argue that "broadband is free, what d`you expect?"

Luckily I didn`t need the help desk :)

www.saynoto0870.com lists quite a few alternative numbers for Talk Talk which do indeed appear to be One Tel.
