General Forum
Countdown to borthday has begun (12 days and counting)
Wife asked me a few days ago what i wanted...I have no idea.
£200 budget apparently.
So, what can i ask for? I know you are all pretty much on the same wave length as me here, I`d love a console, but have no time to play it.
Love gadgetty type stuff, toys type stuff, er...dont do enough travelling to warrant a Tomtom or similar...
Please help.
I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which i`m dying are the best i`ve ever had.
RE: What Do I Want for My Birthday?
If you`ve got a lot of digital photos what about a digital photo frame? Got one for the parents Christmas and it`s great. It was £80 from Aldi in one of their specials but there is a very nice philips one for £130 ish. Beware though - lots of cheaper ones around but poor quality and "odd" resolution/aspect ratios.

Nintendo DS Lite and a few games. Wonderful dual screen gameplay. Portable and rechargeable. Shut the screen down to instantly put it into sleep mode (wakes up when you open it again) - great for when the boss pops in! Many games are Wifi compatible for multiplayer over the web. It`s mega cool!!!
Games to consider:
Mario Kart DS
Warioware Touched!
42 All Time Classics
New Super Mario Bros DS (packed with mini games as well as the main game itself)
Big Brain Academy (heaps better than Brain Training)
Worth a thought?

RE: What Do I Want for My Birthday?
Well what a coincidence. It`s my birthday at almost the same time and I`d been considering one of these picture frame thingies, but I`d like one of them battery powered ones that you charge up from the mains every so often. Is that the Phillips version? Do they all accept memory cards?

Philips one has auto on/off timer and uses mains supply or rechargeable battery.
Very nice but I just wasn`t prepared to pay the £150 which was the best I could get it for at the time and the Aldi one did most of what I wanted (but is mains only).
They pretty much all take a large variety of memory cards and some also have internal memory (not sure about the philips)
A new iPod video... you can get the 80Gb version for £235 direct from apple with an online discount code :D
Remember though - you`ll have to add another essential £15 for a decent cover to protect it, which makes the 30Gb a better buy within budget...
I love mine - didn`t for one minute think I`d use the video feature at all but I`ve got both series of Extras on there as well as a few films that I won`t get to sit and watch with the wife. Highly recommended.

I would second getting an iPod for your Birfday, but if it is not too late hold of until after tomorrow. New Apple products being announced, which may well include a new iPod.

I know you said you`re not a gamer, but I`d second the Wii - it`s almost like getting real exercise :D
