No... not in my experience. They tried doing it in one place I worked, but you would be surprised how easy it is to set-up a fake online store. :-)

Tell your mate to buy this tv. I have a JVC, the next model up which I bought from Empire Direct and it`s excellent.

In fact, there was a cable loose inside the tv which meant I had no sound out of the right-hand speaker, but I never even noticed for 6 months.

In a way, that proves how good it is.

It was fixed within two days and now it sounds superb!!!

I was always worried about after-sales service with on-line stores but I was well pleased with their service.

More like it proves how deaf you are!

No offence mate but if you had this TV for 6 months with a broken speaker and you thought it sounded `excellent` then your easily pleased!!!

Your probably therefore not the best person to take advice from, but thats just my opinion! :)

I think you missed the point somewhat.

Bainbridge`s in Newcastle (or John Lewis in Edinburgh and anywhere else where the shop is) match mail order.

We got our lovely 36" flatscreen Panny from there 18 months ago.

It was £2500 in there, and the matched the £2000 mail order price, plus included the standard 5 year warranty they offer.

Brilliant.

I got my cd deck price matched there as well, which is great as it`s a local shop.

nope...dont think i did!

When you consider that some of the guys on this site pay thousands of pounds on their home cinema set up and hundreds of pounds on SPEAKER cable alone then its fair to say that they will never think a TV with one speaker will sound "excellent"!

If the point you were trying to get across was how good the TV was with just one speaker then I did get your point but far from agree with it! This TV has 2 speakers and if one of them is broken you cant even watch it in stereo which leaves you listening to some form of mono (depending on if the TV has some virtual dolby or something). For me this could this never sound "excellent". It just goes to show that what sounds "excellent" for one person will sound very poor for another.

All your post proves to me is that you dont really appreciate the whole cinema setup and I for one would never buy a TV on the recomendation from someone who said it sounded "excellent" even with one of its speakers broken!!!

Last time I enquired, I was told by John Lewis Store that they don`t match internet prices.

More likely someone with a more acute sense of hearing popped around for a cup of tea and noticed just how bad the TV sounded and told the guy one of his speakers was fcuked!
