Any tips for someone ripped off on an online auction?
Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to proceed after paying for items in a Yahoo auction but never receiving the item and no response from the Seller?

Have a look at his rating list, contact someone else who HAS received the goods, get his address and pay him a visit. All this of course after conatcting yahoo - I don`t know what they can do to help you, but they at least should stop him trading again and repeating the offence.

Contacted Yahoo, just an automated response so far. Ratings take the same view as me. There are a couple of positive ones but they appeared to be updated after the negative ones appeared so I think they were posted by the seller himself.
I don`t have the seller`s address only his bank details.
I can`t contact any of the other buyers as Yahoo doesn`t pass the info on.
Everything seems to favour the scumbags who want to rip people off.

I was ripped off on Yahoo, at the end of the day there is nothing Yahoo can do about it.
You just have to write the money off.
And besides, why buy such an item anyway via an auction site?
I can understand buying dvd`s etc as they are cheap so if you get ripped off it wont hurt too much BUT to buy a camcorder is just asking for trouble.
I`d never risk it !!

i was stitched up on ebay about a month ago. i bought a cd from some little twat who never sent me the cd after hed got my 6 quid! anyway ebay wont cover you for anything under £20 so my options were to get in touch with the police or travel to his house and kick the living s*** out of him!!! anyway in the end for £6 i coulnt be bothered. its reasons like this why i will never bid for anything on auctions for much over a tenner...

Only thing I can suggest is to leave your e-mail address on the bad rating you gave him and ask that anyone else who has been ripped off contact you.
Also try the police/citizens advice, if you have his bank details (and they are genuine) then can`t they force his bank to give you his address?
Good Luck

You could try contacting the trading standards office for the area that the person you payed lives assuming you have his correct address and also if you have his bank account details and his bank address , try writing to his bank manager explaining the situation and that you are taking further action against this person for fraud . This may result with the seller getting the "frighteneers" when he finds out and maybe refunding you. Good Luck !!!! :o)
