Page 1 of Whats the best/safest music sharing program??

Title says it all really- I`ve read some mixed reports about Morpheus P.E. as this uses Gnutella. Also, does each file sharing app come with this "spyware" built in? I`ve got a firewall and virus check etc, but can anyone recommed the safest (as far as safe P2P programs can go) file sharing program?

Although its still going to use Gnutella (I think), Mopheus 2 with is coming out in a couple of weeks. Hoefully it will be similar to the original Morph and not the dire, unusable PE.

Use Grokster, its exactly the same as Morpheus (the old one). It has spyware but you can disable it using the link from mike in this thread:

According to reports, Morpheus v2.0 will be based on the Gnutella platform rather than Kazaa, so I`ll be switching to Grokster which uses the same programming.

i now use win mx. It has no spyware and seems to be quite quick and has a resume feature. If you are worried about spyware use ad-ware from www.lavasoftusa.com i think.

I agree - winMX is excellent and gets my vote.

After trying both morpheus and winmx i decided winmx was better and had no troubles at all with it

after morpheus let everybody down with morpheus PE i tried both Grokster and kazaa and even used the thread to disable the spyware...IT DOES NOT WORK i had 57 attempts to access my computer good job i use zone alarm pro...dont get me wrong im not in the gary glitter fan club but the only person to access my files is me.....downloaded WINMX and have had no problems and its kickin so they get my vote.

Audio Galaxy is the dogs bollocks...

I used to use Audio Galaxy heavily. I must have got about 3000 mp3s from there (don`t ya love ADSL!). But then they started blocking a lot of stuff. Thankfully I`d already got most of the stuff I wanted. It`s still useful for getting other stuff though, particularly older stuff. Espeially as the bitrate isn`t limited to max 128 like Kazaa etc.. And if you get yourself in a group you can still download stuff that might otherwise be blocked.
