RE: Did playstation.com once sell dvds?
I think they did, i seem to remember them selling The Matrix for £7
RE: Afterburner lighting for the gameboy advance
I think http://www.lik-sang.com do these as well
RE: PS2 Elvis Chip
there are no solder mods, but i dont think they are called Elvis, as Elvis is a messiah mod chip clone, which is meant to be a little tricky to solder. You are proberbly better off getting a messiah chip if your are going to open your ps2, as this will boot everything whereas i have heard the no solder chips can damage your laser when trying to read a DVD based game which has been ripped onto a cdr. Therefore possibly shortening the life of your ps2. Also i think the no solder chips need you to buy a action replay and then you have to disk swap. Messiah boots everything without disk swapping!
RE: Region coding on Gamecube games?
I should think the region 0 games are pirated. Proberbly HK slivers.

top fun mate..........
RE: Max Payne- PC or PS2
Plus on pc you have the option of having mods for it. At the moment the kung fu mod is top!
RE: Broken PS2 :(
what mod chip did you try modding it with?
RE: other operating systems
there are quite a few based on LINUX. But most software only supports windows.
RE: Nintendo 64 roms (sorry- i know it`s a bit off topic)
I feel it would be easier to do a search on http://www.google.com as rom sites often get shut down.
RE: Game Boy Advance Games
u could download a emulator and the roms of the games you are going to buy, but if you dont like them just delete them.
http://gbxemu.com/
as for imports, there is no region coding so you can import the games and play it on your uk gba.
RE: Eclipse - 695
I think Eclipse electronics went under a while back. The machine is compatible with cd-r/cdrw but i dont know if it will accept dvdrs. The only way is to try it and see.
let me know how you get on
RE: GameCube import games......
The NTSC version does need a modchip which if i remember correctly has around 4 wires needed to be soldered. I presume it will be the same for the PAL version. But if you are looking to play backups as well, then i think you will be out of luck as the cube use 1.5gb half size dvds.
RE: Anyway of speeding up a 56K modem?
How about adsl?? as some isps do the service for the price of TW/NTL i think.
RE: Missing - Matrix Collectors Edition Lobby Scene
i have it too and can confirm the scenes ARE in it
RE: WHO`S DOING THE CHEAPEST DEAL ON THE X-BOX?
The best deal i have seen is from http://www.gameplay.com where you can get an xbox, 2 official controllers, and any game of your choice for £349.95 and i think that is with free del.
seperatly this would cost
xbox - 300 (with 1 contoller)
another controller - 25
any game - 45
so you are saving around £20
RE: ECLIPSE DVD-695 hates Disney disks, & other troubles
I rented POTA reg 2 and noticed no pic size changes. Does it have a feature where u can view deleted scenes, in the correct place in the film (as i have noticed this with snatch).
RE: Whats the best/safest music sharing program??
i now use win mx. It has no spyware and seems to be quite quick and has a resume feature. If you are worried about spyware use ad-ware from www.lavasoftusa.com i think.
RE: ECLIPSE DVD-695 hates Disney disks, & other troubles
I too have this DVD player, and found that the subtitles come on, but normally if you select in the menus before the film, it switches them off.
The only DVD i have had problems was exit wounds, when the menus froze on the screen. This only happened when the film had been viewed. All i done was switch off then on then it was ok. As for NTSC playback it has been fine with my philips 32" (DVD was the simpsons season 1 (R1). My machine always responds to the remote. Maybe if you suggest some titles that did not work then maybe i can rent them and see if it happens.
I presume that Eclipse have gone bust or something, as richersounds tend to stock end of line products etc. and the website has never worked for me( from mid sept when player was bought)
If the machine is not older than 12 months i would have thought RS would exchange it for a different model.
RE: Amaray DVD Cases
the newish AOL trial cds now come in cases which are similar to DVD cases. I dont know if you can pick them up from any shops, but i get one come through the door nearly monthly, lol
best of all they are free. Just bin the cd and rip out the cover.
RE: X-Box query!
Looking in this months Gamemaster Mag, received today, they say that xbox will have the traditional region coding, just like the ps2 and psOne. I am sure that once it is released that there will be various chips for it though.
RE: macro off eclipse 695 ?
from playing around with mine you have to change it everytime you switch the machine on =(
RE: NTSC on a Philips widescreen
Cheers guys.
I thought i wouldnt have any problems but i thought i would check =)
thanks again.
NTSC on a Philips widescreen
I now want to order some region 1 dvds to watch. I have a dvd player capable of playing any region and RCE ( its a Eclipse 695 from richer sounds). The only problem i have is that i am not sure if my tv will play the ntsc signal. The tv is a Philips 32PW6332/25. Its the black one, 32" with dolby pro-logic decoder onboard. Has anyone had any experiance with this tv as i do not want to order a dvd which i cannot watch. the dvd is connected to the tv by scart. The tv is around 3 years old and the bloke in richer sounds said that most expensive tvs will play ntsc (this cost £1000). I do not know anybody with a region 1 dvd, nor are there any dvd import shops which i am aware of nearby(Norwich).
Any info would be great =)

Pro Logic -> DD 5.1
I have a philips widescreen with pro-logic decoding on board. With no amp or nothing. Is it worth me upgrading to DD and will i notice much difference?
RE: Eclipse DVD 695 nightmare!
I have had mine for a couple of months and havent had any problems.
RE: disable macrovision eclipse dvd 695 please HELP
When i got my 695 from richer sounds they told me it was macro free out of the box. But i know there is a secret menu. Open the DVD tray and then with it open, press 7, 4, enter on the remote, there is something about macrovision in there i think.
RE: VCD advice
I have a Eclipse 695 DVD player from Richer sounds and i think it is v. good. It`s £179.99 I think, but well worth the money. It plays all regions and RCE and VCD/SVCD and MP3. So it will play anything you throw at it.
Eclipse
I brought the 695 from RS. Its great, but i cant get onto eclipse`s website.
Is there any firmware updates for this machine?
The address for the machine I got off the box is http://eclipseelectronics.com
Thanks
Online Shops
Can you guys tell me which *respectable* UK online shops are worth purchasing from? Mainly ones which sell non mod-chipped multi region players.
Thanks
