Hitachi dv-p305e multi region code won`t work...
My grandmother purchased a Hitachi DV-P305e dvd player about a week ago. I have tried most of the hacks I can find (all BUT those requiring an additional remote other than the hitachi model supplied).
I haven`t got any idea why this is not working.
The one I have tried most frequently is: Resetting the machine (Play + Stop held down), choosing a language, pressing repeat, then keying in 3,8,7,6,7, and finally the region I require.
I still have no luck. Aparrently the region the machine is set to is supposed to appear in the corner of the screen, I have had no such number appear..
There are two repeat buttons on the remote, which one do I press?? I usually use the top one, is this wrong??
Please help!
All the best, Daniel

Don`t panic !!
There are a few of us out there that this hack won`t work for with the same model. You`re pressing the correct repeat button, but like mine your machine could well have an older version of firmware in it.
Our freind Mike G is on the case, just keep checking back and hopefully all should be revealed soon.
PS Don`t bother wasting your money on an all in one remote like I did because that doesn`t work either!!!

Of course you can buy an auto region chip for this model very cheaply from my site

I have this problem also so would be interested to hear from Mike G. I can get hold of an Aiwa RC-7AS06 remote that is supposed to work. Is it worth trying ?
Any Info would be appreciated

I also couldn`t get the Hitachi remote hack to work but was able to get it working using an Aiwa RC-TN340EX remote.
Pressing SHIFT + CLOCK (with no disc inserted) pops open the tray and displays "ADJUST" on the LED panel. Then insert a region 1 disc and away you go. It doesn`t coldstart the unit as reported in the Samsung 709 hack and doesn`t need any other keys pressed after the tray pops open. Only works on a single disc and is not permanent unfortunately.
Pressing SHIFT + REPEAT seems to light every pixel on the LED display.
Pressing SHIFT + SLEEP pops open the tray and displays " CS 02 2" on the LED. This one doesn`t work, despite appearing to be similar to the Samsung 709 hack. It does coldstart the player however and all your settings will need to be re-entered the next time you power on.
Using the first method above I`ve been able to play numerous Region 1 DVDs with no problems, including "The Perfect Storm" which is RCE encoded.
Hope this helps.
Lynx.

Hi Stewart Did you do something different to the rest of us to get your hack to work ?
Just after I press repeat and enter the first digit of the code
the DVD (correctly) thinks that I am selecting german language as this is the screen that I am on.
When you held Play and stop did the language screen eventually disapear before you enetered the code.
Please help.

When i cold started (Play & Stop) i select my language (English), and then press "Repeat", 3, 8, 7, 6, 7 and a 2 appears in the top left of the screen, you then press the number of the region you want, or 9 for region free. Then press open/close on the player, followed by the Power button on the REMOTE! The drawer will close automatically and the player will be region free!!
