Philips DVD 701

Fiona (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 17th April 2001, 21:13

I am trying to change my new player but the Philips DVD-750 hack doesn`t sem to work.

I have tried using my One-for-all remote but after setting it to code 0539 my DvD player ignores it.

Using Philips own remote control I (`play` then 159) I can get the `-------` display but its 11 digits not 12 as on the 750 hack. Leaving either the first or last digit doesnt work - and entering all 12 just makes the machine `freeze` until I unplug it.

Could anyone help please? I`ve had the player for a week and stupidly brought lots of Region 1 films :(

just had the same problem, my remote is a one 4 all 6 which I had to enter 539 instead of 0539 then magic 085 it did bring the --------display up. I then entered the 11 digits 222 222 005 25 which filled the display up just press 5 again then play, till it says no disk, switch off then back on
it will work

I`ve been having the same problem but the 539 NOT 0539 fix didn`t work. I have a one 4 all 3 remote though. Could this be the problem? Any other ideas?? Thanks - Peter

but surely all the One for All`s have a magic key. I have a One for all 4, with TV/VCR/SAT/AUX and a Magic button and have had no luck

yes....but can it control a DVD player?....

the important part is the ability to use setup code 0539 (or 539)....

hve you tried using 0539 as the VCR code?

What you might find, is that your remote is still holding the codes of another device. What you need to do is clear the memory first.
I haven`t got a dvd button on mine, But I ve managed to set it up on the VCR button. To clear the codes on the VCR button do the following: Press the VCR button, press and hold down the magic button till if flashes twice, enter 992 then VCR and VCR again. That clears the memory on the VCR button. Then just try reprogramming the remote on the VCR button.

(If the remote only takes three numbers, then the led flashes. enter 539 instead of 0539, then magic then 085)

HELP!!! Im having a major headache over trying to hack into my phillips dvd 701. I have tryed everything I can think of, but I still haven`t got anywhere. Using my one for all 6 remote, I first tryed 0539, magic, 085, nothing happened in the display. I then tryed 539, magic, 085, still nothing. I finally tryed my phillips remote typing in 159, then play which to my suprise gave me -----------. I typed in 11 digits, 222 222 005 25, then when I pressed 5 a small dot appeared left of the -------, which led me to believe I was finally getting somewhere, but after then pressing play, several times!, nothing happened apart from my dvd freezing up. PLEASE help, I`m getting balder by the second!!!
