anyone still got their original DVD player - before they were everywhere?
Sadly, i have - that old brick of a MATSUI 110! (well a PS2 in addition nowadays)
Despite its all round simplicity and ugliness it wasnt exactly pennies when it first came out. But i have had it for a few years now and it still works brilliantly.
Ive come across a lot of people with more modern players who have nothing but problems with them. Anyone else?

Encore DV450 purchased April 2000 for £175 (cheap in them days !).
Aside from one minor blip, the player is running as good as ever and can now perform all sorts of tricks courtesy of the team and visitors behind the original 20 page website I devoted to it which has ballooned out of all control (http://www.area450.com for those that don`t know already) !
Recently imported a US Sampo player called the DVE612 so that I can devote more time to adding strange peripherals to my `450 (eg a hard drive !) : got it at cost price, so only cost me £90 to import ;-)

I still have my Proline DVD1000, although I *would* replace it if I *could* replace it....

First got my Encore x6 DVD ROM drive. Still got it. Got fed up of not getting the full value for money by watching movies on a PC screen and stereo speakers, so splased out got a Wharfy 750s, plus DTS/Dolby 5.1 Amp, all the speakers and a (naff-ish) Samsung 28" Widescreen telly. Have still got `em all. Am on the prowl for a DVD Home Recorder now, that can sing dance and has a kitchen sink sort of thing. Hoping Panasonic do a recorder that can do DVD+RW and DVD-RAM.
BB.

Still got my pioneer dv525 which I paid £80 for(a bloke in work won it in a comp and did`nt want one as he was`nt interested) about two years ago!
Looking a bit dated looks wise, but still an all round good performer and I can`t see me changing unless it breaks down!

I still have my Pioneer 525, bought it when it cost a whooping £350 (but my parents paid so that was OK).
Unfortunately, they bought it retail, so it is not multi-region and no way am I paying techtronics 100 quid to get it modded.
I`ll have to replace it with something slimmer soon I expect.

Yup. I`m not reviewing any players at the moment, so my trusty Pioneer DV515 has gone back in the stack... and you know what ? It STILL performs beautifully !!

I too have the Pioneer 515 (multi-region) which I will not get rid of .. until it goes capputt !!.
Smiler, if you live near Leeds I can let you have the details of a place that will modify your 525 for £30 !! (it`s where I took mine 18 months ago, was £50 then but it is £30 now for all Pioneers).
