Page 1 of CD vs DVD ??????????????

why will my lg dvd player play CD copies but won`t play DVD copies its plays both originals

Have a look on the LG website for disc compatibility. I`ve never really handled any DVD copies to know whether they play on my player let alone anyone elses.

CD-R/-RW is completely different to DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW - your laser needs to be able to read both types - chances are they won`t if it`s an older player :(

I have found that nearly all LG players refuse copies on DVD+ and DVD-

I recorded my holiday videos on a DVD -R disc using my new JVC DVD recorder and found that it played perfectly on my son`s 3 year old LG 3200 player. Funny thing was that it would not play back the picture (sound only?) on my 12 month old Pioneer DCS303 Home cinema system.

Whereas I have had very few reject my Ritek G03`s ...wierd, innit?

Currently in the process of finally fixing my 2280 that I screwed when I was sent an incompatible firmware chip from one of our "friends" in the chipping business, so if I get that up n running, I should be able to test a lot more, as the 2280 had a single DVD laser and is from wayyyy back when a dvd player was a dvd player and not a "general home entertainment plays everything" device <grin>

Updates later `cause I dunno if my own 2280 board is screwed or not yet.

(PS: As Clayts says, CDR/RW is completely different to recordable DVD)
