Due to the size of the dish you will most definately need planning permission for it can`t help with much else sorry .

Buy `What Satellite` magazine. There are lots of add`s for dealers who you can contact to find out more.

You need a receiver that will operate the dish. The receiver will be `free to air` (meaning only unencrypted channels can be watched), or with one or more `CAM` slots. these will let you put in the `CAM` of your choice & the relevant cards. You will need a `Motor/Mount`. ( The bigger the dish the better the mount needed). You don`t need planning permission if you use 80cm or less dish. You don`t need planning permission for a bigger dish in the garden. The bigger the dish the more channels you will receive. Hope this helps.

Silly question:

Are you in the south of England?

If you are, try getting in touch with a company called Race Comunications, They are based in Sunningdale Surrey,

I can Recommend them highly

Haggis - have a wander down to TVS on Neville St (opposite Central Station) - they`re pretty knowledgeable about all things satellite. Advertise heavily in the local rag - the Chronic ill. 8)

Depends on the actual area of reception, if I recall correctly its more generous down south I beleive, still have 2 on the back of the house, a definate no no..

Sky mini Dish.
LH 90CM for D2MAC (no longer used).

Havent followed Sat TV since 2000/1really, used to make pin money selling programmers for D2MAC & reprogramming cards, it died slowly off, didnt hear from anyone for months, one day a knock on the door,

"I need your husband to reprogram my card now"
"Hes out at the moment"
"Whens he back? I`ll wait?"
"Next week"
"Where is he?"
"Canada"
"What am I going to do in the meantime?"
"I dont know (or care)"

That was the last I heard until last year, someone else asking for a crash refresher course in how to run the programmer software from someone else via e-mail.

Nice to be wanted isnt it.

I remember one of the guys at school having a mad motorised dish at the end of his garden (i am sure SETI could have made use of it, it must have been like 2m diameter :D ) All I remember is that it could pick up the best porn tv available :o :D ideal for a group of adolescent schoolboys.

I believe planning permission is no longer needed up to 90cm,but is required with 2 dishes.
Multiple CAM`s are no longer necessary thanks to latest models that handle most types of encryption in the one module.I have been motorised for 13 years, but these days, unless you want porn or are into pirate cards that you can program yourself, there`s not much English language stuff out there worth watching
