Samsung LE26R51BD High Definition T.V

DJPARTYBOY (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 24th August 2005, 21:02

Can anyone advice me on this T.V. I want a HD ready lcd between 23 and 27 inches, wall mountable and this one seems the best t.v for the price range and size. Average price for this is £699 at currys, dixons etc. If anyone knows of a better price than this or better model I will be grateful.

Thanks
Steve.

You can get the LE2641B which is essentially the same tv from Digi UK for £590. Or if you particularly want the Freeview they have it for £645

I have just bought the same TV from Currys on-line for £699, and it is absolutely FANTASTIC! You might know of the LE26R41BD model too, which is essentailly the same, except for three things:

1) The styling - I prefer the 51 model with the black also coming to a point.
2) The response time is faster (8ms compared to 12ms).
3) It`s newer, and contains updated firmware.

I couldn`t find the 51 model anywhere for less money, and when you consider that you still need to pay around £650 for the older 41 model with digital tuner, you really can`t go wrong. I`ve had two LCD TVs in the past, and this just has amazing clarity, contrast, and brightness.

Go for it, you will not be disappointed.

I have just looked at Currys and yes they have the LE26R51BD in stock. However, the information supplied on the website says it does not have a digital tuner, whereas the `D` in `LE26R51BD` signifies it should. So either the model number or the description is incorrect

Nomino could you please confirm whether your model has a digital tuner included as when I rang they couldn`t confirm one way or another.

In addition, you may or may not now that Currys and Dixons are one in the same and deliver from the same stock. Until the 1st October you can get £50 off all orders over £600 buy entering the promotional code DISCOUNT50. This brings the price down to a respectable £649.

I`ve just ordered one, but I`m now worried about the lack of digital tuner. Hopefully Nomino can set my mind at ease.

Hi,

I never trust any of the specifications that places like Currys! They are usually always incorrect in one way or another.

Anyway, I can confirm that the model number is the LE26R51BD, and it has a built-in digital tuner as you would expect from this model.

Cheers for the heads up on the promotion code - I called them and despite me already having received the order, they are going to credit me with £50...sweet!

Enjoy the set mate, I know you will :)

Thanks for the reply.

It`s set my mind at rest.

I`m suprised Currys gave you £50 back, especially seeing as the code isn`t valid for Currys (I tried on the website).

Anyway enjoy your 50 squid.

They told me that the offer had expired, but only by day or something, so they honoured the price. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that it was my third freakin` order with them for the same item (long story...!)

I watched another movie on it last night in Prog Scan, and the quality just blows me away every time I see it! You`ll have to let me know what you think when you get it.

I just got mine wall mounted too - looks really smart.

Hi guys and thanks for the advice regarding the £50 off. I tried this on Sunday at the Dixons web site and it worked! I got the LE26R51BD High Definition for £649 including free delivery. Nomino, could you let me know where you got the wall mount please and how much it cost as I think I may invest in one. Also, does anyone know how easy it is to thread the cables through a stud partitioned wall? Any tips, thanks.

Newbie!! What`s happened. Perhaps too many people have been taking advantage of this offer. I`ve just logged on to Dixon`s site and the LE26R51BD is now £745!!! Taking off the £50 now makes it their original price of £699. Am I being done? Or perhaps someone knows where I can still get £50 off their £699 price. That would be good. From what you`re saying, it would probably be worth the £699 compared to other TVs, but £50 is £50. Hope you can help. Thanks.
ps Nomino Hi! After I`d posted this, I noticed that you`d been watching Progressive Scan. I thought I had the full spec for this TV, but I didn`t know it had that feature. My DVD recorder can output Progressive scan. Is there anything special I need to get this working? Thanks again.
I`ve just `phoned the store and they have it at £799. It seems you guys have been really lucky.
12-09-05 This has now gone beyond a joke. I decided that the TV was probably worth the £699, so I went online and ordered it at £749 less the £50 discount. I printed out the order with the discount. I`ve just `phoned them and they say they can`t find anywhere that says Dixon`s have a £50 discount and that I`ll have to order it at the full price of £749 (that`s £100 more than you guys paid) and then take it up with Dixon`s.
