help please tv problem!!!!!!!!!
help please tv problem....just bought a thompson 28wf25u widescreen tv...when i play region 1 disks faint black lines run up the screen so i dont think my new tv can handle ntsc playback. i have an lg 3350e dvd player with the auto-pal-ntsc switch on the back.
i can remove the black images my changing the component setting to s-video on the dvd player...but is there another way as s-video isnt suppposed to be as crisp as component.......please help as i may have to take my tv back to the shop todat!!!!!!

RE: help please tv problem!!!!!!!!!
Someone correct me , but I thought S-Video WAS better than component.
The problem you describe certainly sounds like a NTSC compatibility problem. I thought most new TV`s sold now are compatible ??

If your TV can`t handle NTSC you would get a black and white picture, not the effect you`re describing.
Try another SCART connection between the player and the TV (it sounds like the lead you got with the player may be naff).
Failing that, ensure that the SCART socket youve plugged into can handle S-Video.
You`re also getting your composites and components muddled up :
In order of picture quality (lowest first)
SCART - Composite output
SCART - S Video output (assuming the TV can handle it)
Direct S Video connection from DVD to TV
SCART - RGB output (assuming the TV can handle it)
Component video connection (three phonos) from DVD to TV (generally only Toshiba tellies have this connection, plus a few top end plasma tellies)
Hope this helps.
