Are the people writing in this forum using computer based DVD or player based?
Just curious to see in what sort of environment people are using their home cinema set-ups in?
The reason i ask is that someone recommending a 5.1 system may be good on a computer based bedroom set up, but not a living room everyday set up.

I use a pioneer 525, I don`t have a pc at home!

I have the Packard Bell Speaker System set up on my PC. I use it with PowerDVD, the version with Dolby Digital and DTS. It sounds fantastic, good enough as a bedroom system, plenty loud enough.

Both hopefully very soon, but currently just a player on it`s lonesome :-)

I`m just looking into buying a home cinema setup myself , and am also pondering whether to go for a computer-based setup or not.
I would say it`s going to cost you at least as much for a PC setup as follows:
DVD player £60 (eg Pioneer, maybe £15 cheaper for cheaper brands)
remote control £20
5.1 speakers £70
===
£150
Thats assuming you`ve already bought the PC and doesn`t include the price of a decent sound card. If you allow £30 more for the sound card, then for the same price you can buy a complete home cinema system
(eg TerraTec DVD HomeCinema 5.1 - see "DVD Home Cinema complete. £179-00..Lidl Supermarkets" also in this forum).
I`m off to buy the Terratec tomorrow and I`ll be posting my opinions soon.
