Genesis gig to be broadcast live at selected Cinemas` In HD and 5.1....
The 27th June one from Düsseldorf is being broadcast live across the UK in Vue cinemas.
Info here.
Anyone got any experience of these sorts of things? Is it loud? Susceptible to dropouts etc?..
At £10-£25, I would hope not......

Dropouts I could handle, a cinema full of Genesis fans, no way... ;)

Can`t claim to have seen a gig at the cinema, but I personally wouldn`t go near a Vue - especially if the aural aspect was a major consideration - after the terrible sound experience of watching Casino Royale in Aberdeen; the pitch was far too loud, it was unbelievably tinny and generally sounded like it had been lightly distorted through a Zoom effects pedal.

Not quite the same, and I haven`t been to one, but my local picture house cinema has shown a few operas broadcast live in HD. From what I`ve seen from seeing a film at same time, it looks to be quite popular.

I don`t think i will be going with the set list as it is likely to be :(
If Gabriel/Hacket and 1972/73/74 songs then may consider it.

Did anyone see Seven Ages of Rock earlier with Genesis? They were like the idiot version of Pink Floyd, I`m suprised they were still taken seriously after that performance of Supper Time.
I did laugh when they realised back then that they had an image problem, and I`m thinking dressing up like a twat isn`t going to solve it.

They were totally different bands.
Floyd were psychodelic type on LSD and Genesis the Public School upper class type, more theatrical.
Whilst I like both bands a lot, I feel that Genesis, up to The Lamb was alway superior lyricaly.
Floyd started to use Genesis`s ideas in the Wall tour, by dressing up like "twats"
Oh, and it`s Supper`s Ready 8) , not "Supper Time" A lot better than "Alan`s Psychodelic Breakfast" :/

Hardley, the only costume they wore were Nazi style uniforms during the second half of The Wall.

But it`s not as good as Interstella Overdrive.
And it`s spelt psychEdelic, not psychodeleic. Psyche is to do with the examining of ones own mind, thought, and emotion often using hallucinogenic drugs, where as psycho is basically a mental disorder.

My favourite Floyd tracks (in no particular order) are:
Cirrus Minor
Careful with that axe Eugene
See Emily Play
Echoes
Dogs
Sheep
When the tigers broke free
The Fletcher Memorial home
All of the dark side of the moon
Welcome to the machine
Vera 8)
Also, Roger Waters (The pros and cons of hitchiking) SHANE!
Genesis:
Supper`s Ready
Twilight Alehouse
The Knife
Aisle of Plenty
The Battle of Epping Forest
The Musical Box
The Cinema Show
The Return of the Giant Hogweed
The complete Lamb album
Firth of Fifth
Watcher of the Skies
Ripples
Eleventh earl of mar
and some of "and then there were three" - Down and out, deep in the motherlode.
Interstella? "Interstellar Overdrive" I believe.
Hardley? "hardly"
I accept that my spelling is not very good but please do not criticise, when yours is also.
My overall point is that both bands are good in their own ways and everyone has their own opinion. I happen to be a fan of both and a lot of others!
