Can anyone please explain in an easy-to-understand way what exactly I need to do to make my Pioneer 116 DVD ROM multi-region.
Thanks in advance. :)

the best thing to do is download a copy of dvd genie from www.inmatrix.com it`s free to download and install it you then see if i can be made region free. if it can then dvd genie will stop the region code from working so it will be region free :)

Hi,

DVD Genie is good but will not make a RPC-2 DVD-ROM region free if it is region protected.

You first need to find a pached region free firmware and re-flash the DVD-ROM to remove the built-in region protection, then use DVD Genie.

i could not adjust my dvd drives with dvdgenie, or find any firmware to flash them, but dvdregionfree works. the trail version only lets you view 15 minutes of a disc, so with regret you do have to pay for it.
think the website is www.dvdidle.com

http://digi.rpc1.org/rpc.htm ............... it explains eveything on the page its really easy to make your player fully multi-region with this .... download the utility( rpcde 2 ) to disable your drives region protection then ( dvd region killer ) to bypass windows region protection ... there you are fully region free dvd player on your p.c easy :D

Download VideoLAN from http://www.kazaalite.tk/ or http://www.videolan.org/. Not only does it seem to play just about any disc from any region on any DVD-ROM on any operating system, but it also plays incomplete AVI, MPEG, WMA and MP3 downloads. Another BIG advantage of using this program on a new PC is that it doesn`t make any warranty-losing alterations to the drive or its firmware.

Lovely stuff!
