Page 1 of Which brand DVDs

Does anybody have preferences for which brand of DVDs specifically for archiving images.

Well one`s NOT to use is `Mr DVD` from Staples. They`re really cheap - £5.99 for a spindle of 25 - but thats false economy!

The best ones I`ve used are the Philips ones. I used to purchase them from Staples but for some strange reason they`ve stopped doing them in favour of stocking the Mr DVD ones!! >:( :/

At the risk of answering my own question.
A local shop recommended by a seriously computer literate mate suggested Verbatims which I`m trying 25 of.
Thinking about it anything more than 5 years and there will be a new type of media anyway.

I used to love Verbatim CDRs. I use Datawrite DVDs almost exclusively now, and am thrilled with the results.

They are not the cheapest, but they come out on top in all the tests.

I would speak to SVP and ask there advice for the type of DVD writer you have.

Personally I use the datawrite titaniums or Ritech disks. The yoko-whatevery branded disks are meant to be the best by a long way, and I think the vertibans are the same type of disk.

When I next purchase DVD/CD`s I will be paying the little bit extra for the "SCRATCHPROOF" versions.

must agree Verbatims have been great for me, ive used them for a couple of years now and sometimes W2W have them at £4.99 for 25 with free delivery!! at just under 20p a disc you can go wrong!

I went to the local computer fair (Everton Sports Centre - Liverpool) and bought 100 blank printable DVD-r`s for £17!!

Tried a few before and they all work perfectly. What a bargain! :)
