Laptop sound problem, help appreciated

So laptop has worked fine but does have a tendency to overheat, especially playing fm14 and civ which is a known problem :(....recently though the sound has cut out on my videos, dont matter which program i use, it cuts out every 30 sec to minute, if i use headphones its fine, if i have the headphone socket in half and push in and take out again the sound goes back on thru speakers. Have reinstalled drivers and actually did a full reinstall of windows but no luck....any ideas appreciated? Also anything i can do to help the overheating problem?

many years ago had something a bit similar but may have been on XP. I think I solved it by turning off hardware accelerated sound in a setting somewhere. Saying that I think it was on a tower not a laptop.
If in Win 7 try speaker properties and turn off all enhancements.

Having recently dismantled my Sony laptop, to investigate & source a replacement DC jack, at the time I blew out the dust in the fan or so I thought.

Tonight on fitting the lead, I decided to fully dismantle the fan & inspected the grill from the fan shroud, it was still clogged with a thick film of solid dust impeding airflow.

Already with my hand  near the grill, it's blowing a lot cooler.

I have one, paid £20 with 4 fans, doesnt really stop overheating with fm14 or civ 5, which are main culprits re overheating, speakers really doing my nut in tho, hate wearing headphones all time :(

If headphones work, how about attaching external speakers to the laptop instead of using the laptop speakers?

either that or some little usb speakers/usb sound card. the cheap £10 ones can be surprisingly good, certainly better than laptop speakers

I've got this one

http://www.amazon.co.uk/KitSound-KSUNO-On-Board-Amplifier-Compatible/dp/B004EHYYZ2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1393591079&sr=8-2&keywords=KitSound+KSUNO&tag=myrev09-21

it's good/loud enough to plug into the pc/laptop and watch a film/ tv show

the x-mini xpod speakers are good to, and can even be daisy chained :)

so speakers completely gone now, took it to local laptop repair who couldnt get sound part from supplier, contacted medion who are in germany ! and will cost me £120 before they look at it! anyone know anywhere who can deal with medion? pc world maybe? if not gonna have to get a new one i think rather than couple of hundred quid for a repair :( Any good deals with blu-ray laptop doing the rounds just in case?
