Does anyone know of any reason why this cant at some point be released on DVD? I ask because it`s one of those programs i saw when it was first broadcast and the BBC have never repeated it since, same with Newman & Baddiel: In Pieces, they were hilarious at the time but will they still be now? I know Rob Newman still uses a lot of the material in his stand-up shows and it still works....
As lots of old TV shows are coming out, maybe this will be one of them.....
`Lovely... milky, milky....`
RE: Mary Whitehouse Experience
An interesting idea, but much of the material was very topical, and unless you`ve got a good memory for the period you might find a lot of the jokes whizz over your head. Unless you remember John Cole, Hugh Dennis` impression of him will mean nothing.
They`ve been repeating the original radio shows on BBC 7 (including all the very early series with Mark Thomas, Jo Brand, Skint Video etc.) Well worth catching again.
Punt & Dennis are still Radio 4 regulars with "The Now Show".
Rob Newman has moved away from the old material now, his last show "From Caliban to the Taliban" hardly contained any of the old stuff.
And fans of Newman & Baddiel should read their books:-
Rob Newman
Dependence Day (out of print and hard to find now)
Manners (ditto)
David Baddiel
Time for Bed
Whatever Love Means
And a new one coming out in October believed to be called The Secret Purposes
I can`t imagine that the shows are a prime candidate for DVD though.
This has been a nostalgic 90s comedy post.

Another programme I would like to see This morning with Richard not Judy released on DVD. I really miss Histor`s eye :) egg haha egg like an egg a bird lays :) and the curious orange
Those pesky Maori`s have nicked my sandwiches again
M Khan is bent!
Anybody remember that from the Mary Whitehouse Experience?
Quality!!! :p
Fist of Fun should have an immediate DVD. Rod Hull commands it.
But the one that should be on shelves today is Absolutely. Come to Stoney Bridge, where we have....a stoney bridge.
That and Naked Video, which although could be a bit hit and miss gave the world Rab C. Nesbitt.
just thought id let u kow that robert newman has a new book comin out on 1st september. i think he is also doing stand up still in soho theatre. the book is available on amazon for pre order
"they were hilarious at the time but will they still be now?"
Yes.
Have still got most of the episodes from the two series on video which I take a gander at every couple of years and although some is very topical, there`s a lot of great relationship stuff which is just priceless.
Rob Newman`s breakup reconstruction for one, when his ex girlfriend comes in dressed as a which, then kneels down and puts her eye to the door handle when leaving. RN: "That`s just how it happened!" *innocent shrug*
Have just lent the vids to a friend to compile into a DVD of both series. Won`t be great quality but will be nice to get most of the episodes on DVD at last. :)
Agree with the Absolutely though, one of the best shows ever, I still can`t say the word video without pronouncing it Vid-A-oh. :/
