NTL - Does anyones `Red` or `Volume` Button Work?

M. (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 2nd July 2003, 20:46

I`ve been on NTL (cable & wireless) analogue and then digital since time began, in fact i started on digital back in 1998/1999, i think we were the second area (Bromley London/Kent) after the Manchester region and still the poxy red button does sod all, the volume button does sod all and the digital text does sod all, minor things i appreciate but a little annoying when you consider we`re living in the lap of digital evolvement.

Question --- "Does anyone in the country have use of these above handset features and if so when and where are you from?"

Same here...Does nowt!!...Had mine for 2 years & when we first had it,the guy from NTL said the usual.."Oh..it doesn`t do anything at the moment, but it`ll all be up & running in a few weeks..."...Yeah,right!
Still, can`t fault them generally, broadband, phone prices.. etc...Now if i could just get the sodding set-top box to stop freezing!! ;-)

My red button works, but the volume doesn`t - I just get a message to use the volume control on my tv remote. Gee, thanks!

I press the red button and get something like "The interactive content of this channel is not available!"

Yeh all i get is "The interactive content of this channel is not available!" also and the same message as above for the volume button. I take it no-one gets a sniff at digital text?

Out of interest which region do you come from if your red button works?

I do still like NTL, i`ve been with them for years but i`d just like them to get the service running properly because its making SKY look more attractive by the day when every program tells you to hit the red button and the damn thing doesn`t work!

I had that freezing problem for months when first installed, the only way to solve it is to continually get them out with some equipment, it usually has something to do with too many connections at the junction box particularly if take up in your area is higher than they originally anticipated or too thin a cable to your property based on the your distance from the junction box, turning the box off at the mains everytime is an irritant and not a fix, so demand they send someone out and get it sorted until your happy, remember you pay their wages so make them do some work!

Nope neither work on mine in Harrow. As for broadband you can forget it they promised it to us over a year ago and it still hasnt happened, yet my mate who lives at the end of my road has it with Telewest go figure.
