DONT FORGET 2 MINS SILENCE AT MIDDAY TODAY
For those who died in the London Bombings last week.

I did, I stood outside with a little old lady. No one else did, even though I did remind Tesco`s. No one bothered and the traffic just hooted each other.
Not good.

Locked myself away in my patching closet for the duration.
I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

A few of us in our office stood out in the street, not many other offices around here seemed to bother.
RE: DONT FORGET 2 MINS SILENCE AT MIDDAY TODAY
Pretty poor show from our office staff as well - too intellectual to bother perhaps. Interestingly the big construction site opposite me had about 150 building workers standing respectfully in silence.

we all went outside, must have been 2000 people out there.. white vans drove through though..
RE: DONT FORGET 2 MINS SILENCE AT MIDDAY TODAY
I don`t see why I should have to stand outside like a sheep in order to pay my respects to the dead. I can do that perfectly well in my own time and in my own place, thank you very much. Public `grieving` of this nature is all very well and good for those who want to participate but please don`t think that `the rest of us` don`t share the sense of sadness at this terrible waste of human life.
RE: DONT FORGET 2 MINS SILENCE AT MIDDAY TODAY
In the past i would have agreed with that. I`m not one for "minutes silences" at the drop of a hat, but this was more than paying respects to the dead, it was a sign of strength and solidarity.

I think how people went and gathered *outside* their offices etc in defiance was good.
