Anyone bought sofas from DFS?

I know they have the same reputation as the DSG of the Sofa world but has any one bought from them?

Good/Bad/ Indifferent?

Thanks in advance :)

I have... had no problems.. they customised some for me as well at no extra charge.. and when I decided a few months later that I needed another chair.. they bent over backwards to find one for me.. so.. yeah.. i`d recommend them

bought 2 leather sofa`s off them. they were slightly damaged and had been rejected by the original purchaser. damage was the fact that the leather was slightly (and i mean slightly) scuffed. paid on the friday and they were delivered saturday morning.

had them a year now and i`m very happy with them.

They may try to push a extra anti-stain warranty, quite expensive if you asked me, we paid unfortunately something like £347 for 2 sofas and 1 chair, having small kids at the time we thought it was a good idea but looking back I would not take the extra warranty. If not no problem whatsoever with them.

We bought 2 sofas off them in `98, service was terrible, delivery was 3 months longer than the 2 months they orignally quoted and after 6 months the one sofa collapsed in the centre. Other one collapsed in exactly the same place about 2 years later.

They`re aftersales bloke had a look at it and decided it was from miss-use, aparantly your not supposed to sit on them ;)

There was a thread on DFS a while back, will see if I can find it.

** Update **

Here it is and just to update that the 2 leather sofas we bought from Argos still look and feel as good as new despite the kids / cats / rabbits and a stroppy teenage brother bouncing all over them.

All the best

Ger.

We bought a couple of sofa`s (3 & 2 seaters) from our local furniture chain, not that I get to sit in them very often but still as comfy as day 1. THO resisted my desire for leather units the time before last that we were buying sofa`s & now would`nt sit in\on anything else (Based on the fact if we get to Canada we won`t be taking them with us & she wants to).

THO periodically cleans them, they still have kids on them doing kids stuff, the worst abuse comes from MiL Partner when he kips on them when they stay*.

Folks got a brown leather sofa from them. It keeps fading to orange in places. They came around to fix it once but it happened again. Now they wont do it again `cause they said it was fixed!

The sofa hardly gets used either.

Folks have no option but to take it up with the finance company.

We bought a sofa off them a few years ago, on an easter finance deal. The deal was `buy now. Pay next year`. We sat through all the finance paperwork, and at the end, I asked the girl who filled out the form "So, we`re not going to be charged anything until next April?"

"no" she says

"Are you sure? We can`t afford this sofa at the moment, so paying next year would be really handy"

She LOOKS at the form we`ve just signed, and says "No, you`re not due to pay anything until next April"

Lo and behold, the payments start coming out the next month. i ring to ask why, and I`m told I signed the form saying they could take the money out at that time. I look at our copy of the form, and there`s a little box that says `1 M A`, which stands for One Month After. We have no idea what 1 M A means.

DFS (Maidstone) LIED to us. Twice.

DFS = Dodgy F***ing Sofas! lol

Ive got a chair and a poof (footstool thingie lol) that I got from my aunt after 2 parts of her barely 3 year old 3 piece from DFS went to the big skip in the sky...the other chair fell apart (the seat collapsed and the chair arm came loose) and the sofa sagged in the middle, the only reason the chair I have survived is because it was the one hardly anybody sat on (it was the `spare` one in the corner which only got used now and again) She said she woulnt touch another DFS sofa with a ten foot pole ...but then every shop has a horror story from someone ....
