Page 1 of Urgent Help rqd: How to present my Mrs with her bday/valentine NY gift?? Oh & More NY advice Pls!

Hi Guys,

As mentioned ags ago in a previous thread Its my Wifes birthday 2morro. (yeah the day b4 valentines!)

Anyway - Ive booked a 4 nite holiday for us in NY flying out on Sunday.

Has anyone got any genius suggestions as to how to present the gift to her? I dont just wanna hand over the tickets and say "come on love get your coat!" kinda thing.

I wanna give her come clues or somet before hand and tease her and stuff.....

So - any suggestions??

Oh Yeah - does any have any more advice on NY/manhattan what to do where to go type stuff (off the beaten path)

Sort of thing I do is to catch her unawares (my wife not yours,. just thought I had better clarify that).

Get her a really naff gift - a box of milk tray or something sad and thoughtless and plank the tickets inside it.

Place the 2 tickets on her pillow just before she comes out of the bathroom as she`s going to bed.

Its a bit late now to do but if you ever get one of those personally delivered by hand envelopes pushed into your letterbox, stick them in there & mingle it in with the morning post before you depart for work.

mmmmm..... I like the idea of giving her a naff box of chocolates. The problem is the tickets arnt actually proper tickets. They`re just print out e-ticket jobbys so they dont look very special.

Any more wisdom???

Can you mock somthing up on the PC that looks a bit better?

What about something with New York in the title? Did a search at HMV and there was a whole list of DVDs and CDs that had it?

How about putting a Birthday request out a radio station. Explain on an email what you`re planning to do. Radio 2 usually loves those kinds of things - if you get the right DJ! You`ll get their email addresses on the BBC web page.

This will sound a bit cheesy Neil, but it certainly did the trick with my missus when i splashed out on an NY `romance trip/birthday gift`.

Simply march to your local market, seek out the BIGGEST cooking apple you can find, buy it, then go to the nearest cake shop, ask them nicely if you can have one of their nice non decorated cake boxes, stop at Boots on the way home for a bag of cotton wool, get home and do the following.

Place said E-Tickets at the bottom of the box, (i iknow exactly what you mean about these things - but hey, it`s the thought that counts!!), then fill with as much cotton wool as is needed. Place Big Apple, (copyright, ytseW[at]moc.lartneCeseehC), on the cotton wool, and place her Birthday card with `Come fly with me` written somewhere in it on top of the apple befroe closing the box. Wrap in suitably cheesy decorative bow and wait for birthdayee to arrive home.

Give it to her, and hope for the best........ ;)

Worked an absolute treat for me. Cheesy as it seemed, her face when she opened her card, then opened the box...followed by slight pause then tears, was simply unmissable :)
