Monitor Won`t work with New motherboard
My friend has just built a new computer, we have changed the motherboard twice and checked the power supply & memory/processor there all ok. The main problem is the computer turns on but the monitor is dead its the same with 3 other monitors that have been tried, we can`t even get to the bios screen to try and sort the problem out.
Anybody got any advice on how to solve this.????

Sounds silly but have you tried a different video card?

Have you tried the graphics card? Make sure it`s seated properly?

Is the graphics card compatible to motherboard, a lot of the newer AGP ones can be very specific to the voltage they run at (I know its handy to keep & stick a PCI VGA card in a slot on a dead PC from past experience), unless off course its built in to the motherboard.
Do you get any POST error beeps?

Do you get any BIOS error beeps when you turn on the machine.
If not, have you connected the PC speaker in your case to the motherboard to give you a clue.
Voltages for AGP are 3.3 volts and 1.5 volts, this information should be in your motherboard manual.

It shouldn`t be an issue anyway, as the AGP slot is `keyed` to prevent you inserting a card of the wrong voltage rating.
My guess is that you haven`t inserted the card all of the way. If you look at the connector on an AGP card, you`ll see it has two rows of very finely spaced pins. While a PCI card will still work even if it`s halfway out of the slot, an AGP card needs to be pushed fully home if you want it to connect properly.

I had a similar problem with one particular monitor, it would display the motherboard info, memory count, drives info, then went into standby when loading XP, then would not come out. the video was integrated into the motherboard so no seating problems.
Put on another monitor and OK. Probably should have checked BIOS for some obscure power saving settings, but just used the other monitor [different make]

Checked to see if cards are fully pushed in, all seem o.k. Plus tried 3 different monitors....this is a ball ache...

Are you plugging it into the on-board video when there is video card installed? I`ve seen it happen many times and am not taking the p1ss.

RE: Monitor Won`t work with New motherboard
Sorry about hijacking this thread but I`ve got a similar problem ...
Mine kept freezing randomly, sometimes at start up, sometimes when the desktop was loading - basically any time, any place. I removed a faulty slave HD (diagnosed by a technician earlier this year) so that the IDE cable just has the booting HD on it. I cannot get the PC to load up now and there`s no signal going to the monitor. I`ve checked the cables and the AGP card, sound and modem but there is nothing out of place. I do get some BIOS beeps at start up but cannot see why as I`ve only removed the corrupted slave HD. I always boot up from the master into Windows ME and have only kept the slave as couldn`t be bothered to remove it/hoped to get some data back.
I`ve even re-inserted the slave and changed the pins back to the settings before I opened the case up but it still does not load up or send a signal to the monitor.
Any ideas? :/
